If I close my eyes I can see him now, those pan ts hitched up, the wild leaps of boyish enthusiasm as he came running out of the tunnel, the tremendous power of his tackle, always fair but fearsome and the immense power on the ball. In fact the number of times he was robbed of the ball once at his feet, you could count on one hand. He was that sort of player.
A players player. Ask Bobby Charlton and he will tell you “The greatest? There was only one Duncan Edwards.” Yes even a man of Bobby’s international standing rated Edwards the greatest of them all, because any manager lucky enough to have him had half a team
I am lucky enough to have seen Duncan Edwards play and you cannot make comparisons with any other players. Edwards was just unbelievable, he had the ability to take a game by the scruff of the neck and change it.
Matt Busby used to say to the players if we are in trouble just give the ball to Duncan. He was a great player at the age of sixteen. Also he played with a very heavy ball and boots that weighed a ton and against defenders who kicked the s*** out of you. He was certainly the greatest player i ever saw. So my opinion is no Jones is not like Duncan Edwards. I do believe though that Jones has the ability to be a great player and become a Manchester United legend.

Bill, young Phil is a very good player now, and I fully expect him to eventually become a great player. However, I have never seen a single player that could be compared with Big Dunc.
The only way to describe Duncan Edwards is to take all the footballing attributes of say Bryan Robson, Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, and Paul Scholes.
Then mould those four players into one player. You then would have a footballer that could be possibly compared with him, but even then, this metaphorical player would only be half as good!
Unless you actually saw him play, you would never believe that such a player existed. When God created that incredible young footballer, he threw away the mould!
i can see why he was compared to duncan both were big, quick, strong had grace could bring the ball foward and use it well and were light on there feet for big men
and both can play in diffrent postions if jones becomes half the player edwards was he will be a true great
