this little shortline appears to be as diverse in the types of power as the Minnisota Comercial in Minneapolis/St Paul is I must find this shortline and do some railfnning sometime when I am up that way on pickups
As I've pointed out on another post, these tracks used to be the end of the Rock Island's tracks from North Central Iowa to Burlington. The tracks north of Burlington were washed out by a flood in the late 70s when the Rock was already on life support so the tracks weren't repaired and eventually the line was abandoned.
Yes. The operating one with the Hi-Ad trucks was originally built for Columbia & Cowlitz and worked at Longview, Wash. The other unit with the same paint with the standard trucks was originally SP and later sold to C&C. Both units ran on the Port of Tillamook Bay RR in dinner/excursion service until that operation moved to the Mt. Hood RR. Burlington Jct. purchased the units from there.
This railroad runs one train a day, they spend the morning switching the wallboard plant and make a run in late afternoon to the junction with BNSF to pick up the empties, then return about 1 1/2 miles to the wallboard load site and gather the loads, and push them to the interchange, then run light engine back to tie up at the wallboard load site for the night. Many trains on BNSF main where this line makes a junction, downtown in Burlington.
That HAS to be the Mississipi River AKA The 'Big Muddy' at 6:08. theres not too many other rivers that i know of with that much traffic on them!

Yes, and before that Columbia & Cowlitz. The one with conventional trucks is ex-SP while the one with Hi-Ads was built for the C&C.

Nice to see the EX CLC #701 still in service. I was only 3 when her and the 702 left the CLC.
