  • Hi Pinky,

I tried to follow along with you during this video several times. Each time I had to unravel the work. I noticed around row 4-5, it started to get wavy. What am I doing wrong? Please help.

  • I'm looking for tutorial for this kind of hat and so happy to find your lesson. I have follow through the step and finish one hat. I post the picture at my blog. I understand how time consuming it can be and appreciated your kindness. I wishing you all happiness and good fortune. Thanks gain.

  • Can I also use 2 strands of yarn instead of one?

  • What size crochet needle did u use?

  • Felicitation your creations is very beautiful.

I am French, could you send me in writing the instructions because my English is bad and from 4 eme row(rank) it is quite false.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Just awesome! Thank you so much for posting this tutorial. I'm already a crocheter and that initial "pull string" trick is something I'd never done before - fantastic! Your hats are amazing! Love them.

  • Been looking for this forever! Thank you so much!!

  • I guess i better get started trying to make my own Beret! I love your color choices too! I have a lot of hair like you and i need a warm hat that fits and this looks like it. Thanks and peace, Queen.

  • hi Pinky..

i just a starter in crochet, i bought my first hook and yarn coz i wanted to do this, but the hook that i bought is in mm and found out that its a size H.

how much do i need to adjust with the stiches to be able to make this pattern with my H hook? please Pinky.. i would really appreciate if you reply...

    thank you so much!

  • An I or an H hook can be used. No worries.

  • OMG girl you are bad !!! that is sooo pretty :D

  • Hello pinky,

Thanks so much for your great tutorials. I have a question on this pattern. At the beginning of the first three rounds you make the first hdc in the same stitch where you join. Don't you do this for the following rounds?

  • Omg!! Thanks so much

  • You are absolutely fantabulous!! I followed you throughout all of the videos and I finished my hat!! I cannot wait till winter to wear it and show it off to all of my friends. They will never believe that I made it!

You were super easy to follow and you explained everything very well. I absolutely love your tutorials. Keep them coming!!

  • I'm sorry, but there will only be these 2 crochet tutorials. I had promised to only do 1, but thought I would give 2 styles to teach the beginners to crochet. My schedule does not permit for more, they are extremely time consuming.

  • Hi Pinky. I so appreciate you for making this tutorial. My daughter asked me to make a beret for her and I was having trouble knitting it. When I saw you tutorail, I just went for it. Your instructions are plain and simple. Thanks a bunch and may God bless the positive works of your hands!

  • hi Pinky,

    when you say "go through"

    do you mean

    going through

    the circle?

  • Yes, go through the circle and pull up a yarn loop. :)

  • girl i made it looser @ da ss nd the hump disappeared!!!!

  • Hey Pinky, thanks for making this awesome tutorial. I've tried to crochet before, but it was difficult, confusing, and kinda boring trying to make even a simple scarf. Making a hat for my dreads took a couple of tries, but it's done and I dig it. I noticed that your written pattern for round 2 doesn't say 2hdc in each stitch like in the video. Also, there is at least one youtube vidoe of how to make brims for those that are interested. Peace!

  • Ahh thanks for catching that. I'll fix it. Glad to hear that you've been motivated to try and you're happy with the results. Peace.

  • Oh my goodness... I'm going to learn how to crochet now.. I'm inspired. Awesome video!

  • It's been 30 minutes and I cant even get the first hdc... this is going t take longer than I thought, lol {:o)

  • like the smiley!

    :D

  • I went and got the goods today and I already made that round! {:o) yay!

  • I feel like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards trying to get the drawstring and 10 dc stitches right but i got there in the end and find it is bloody brilliant move! Theres something satisfying about pulling that little tail and having it all bunch up tight.

Thank you for vids - I am teaching myself but can't manage to follow instructions from a book. You (and tjw1963) are a great help.

  • this is sooo great, thak you so much for sharing it!

  • Okay that's good my mom got me the crochet kit so it has all sizes. I'm using an H. But I really can't figure this out. I'm on row 7 and it's already shaping like a bowl. In your vid it started shaping like a bowl later on. I can't figure it out I'm not doing it too tight. Ugh I have to restart all over again I think I made a mistake in the pattern.

  • It should start to look like a bowl somewhat. Imagine when you are done that you are looking at a short upside down balloon. Don't stress out, take your time. Loosen up the stitches a bit and see how that works. In the video I flattened mine somewhat as I went along. But.. overall try it in one color first to get the hang of it. Once you are comfortable then take it down and switch up the colors. It will help you get the feel for how it will look later on using loose vs tight stitches.

  • Also try the I hook instead of the H, it will make bigger stitches. The H hook will be much tighter in appearance than the I hook.

  • wow... I just love the way you put this together! what an inspiration!

  • Your attention to detail is so overwhelming!

  • I am buying yarn and the knitting equipment today and trying this out right away! Tahnks for the post.

  • Crochet :) Make sure you get a hook size I or H for this pattern. Worsted weight yarn in any brand or color.

  • Kool. I'm just on the phone with my mom she's at the store buying it for me. So either size 1 or H for the crochet and I didn't quite understand what type of yarn you meant. Is any size okay or do I have to get the thick one?

  • oooo wait!! it's not a 1 it's an i. I made it capitol lettered and in this font it looks like a 1. The most common crochet hook sizes are G, H, I, J and K. The two tutorials I will be doing are in an H and an I or ( i )

  • how about info. on purchasing them??? I don't have enough time in my schedule to make them right now. :)

  • That will be addressed in the video I'm uploading right now. It should be up within the hour. Believe it or not, selling things is an intense process and since I'm meticulous and ummm.. anal about my work it's like double for me, lmao! When I do sell them I probably won't be taking custom orders again for awhile, it will only be what's available on the website.

  • Thank you!!

  • Also a suggestion for your next tutorial vid - Maybe you could add examples of what NOT to do when doing crochet. The best way to learn is by doing the mistake. And in showing us the most common mistakes we're most likely to do, you could show us how to correct ourselves.

Thanks again this is Saxygurl we spoke on another vid of yours on loc jewlery. I ended up making a whole bunch that same night I saw your vid. Thanks for everything.

  • This is really good i can not wait until the next one. When or hoe often will you you be putting the videos up so I can be on the look out?

  • All the videos for this tutorial are now up. There will only be one more separate hat tutorial after this one. I won't be making more in the future. Thanks for the comment and interest.

  • Please be patient, the high quality video does not show up immediately. It will within the hour.

  • oooo I got some crocet stuff at home I want to make a hat like that. That Hat is so nice ******
