  • Legend

  • The video plays fine for me, even on my iPhone.

  • the video doesnt play?

  • love this guy

  • I believe Thurl also did the voice of one of the members of Scat Cat's band in the Aristocats. I think it was the Russian Cat, wasn't it?

  • "Get your antennas, knobs, wires, and rivits off my chrome! Who do you think you are anyway? Dragging you around all the time, bunch of dead weight, I'd be better off without ya!"

    Ah, Kirby The vacuum!

  • Miss you Thurl.

  • 2:58 I love how he said "You have to vocalize!"

  • Thurl Ravenscroft also provided the voice for the horse captain in "101 Dalmatians", black bart in "The Sword in the Stone" and a pig in "Mary Poppins"

  • Thurl Ravenscroft voiced the captain in "101 Dalmatians", black bart in "The Sword in the Stone", and a playing card in "Alice in Wonderland". He also sings in a group called the mellomen

  • And sung" never smile at a crocodile" in Peter Pan

  • "You see, they couldn't decide whether to make it funny or scary, so they just decided to do both!"

My, what an ingenious idea which required much thought.

  • i remember he was the voice of Kirby from TBLT

  • Wow! How amazing:))

  • also the voice of superman on the superfriends! like a father too me,miss him deary.....

  • Wow, what an easy, beautiful low E natural - on command! He's amazing.

  • Just found out he is buried at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove

  • do any 1 knw if he is still living. i did not knw that he did the voice on the triam n thats my bfav ride.

  • @MsDisneylandlover -- Thurl passed away on May 22, 2005.

  • he died in 2005, i looked it up on IMDB Died:

    May 22, 2005 (age 91)

  • I feel like buying a box of Frosted Flakes right now!!!

  • I never knew that Mr. Ravenscroft did that many voices. I only knew him as Tony the Tiger, and his singing of the Grinch song.

  • KIRBY!

  • When was this recorded, and what was it on? It's truly amazing!

  • @powerpup97 "Walt Disney World Inside Out" and its sister show (which this interview is from) "Disneyland Inside Out" aired on Disney Channel in the 90s.

  • @DisneyEchoTV Ravenscroft was 81!

  • I wonder who is lower, Thurl Ravenscroft or James earl Jones, but now that Thurl is dead then JEJ is the lowest one left that I can think of, unless you count Tay Zonday.

  • @BenjaminWirtz I think Tay Zonday exaggerates the pitch of his already quite deep voice. He usually speaks as low as he possibly can, and his singing voice is notably higher and clearer than his speaking voice. Besides, he cannot come close to matching the cavernous timbre of Ravenscroft or Earl Jones.

  • there is a kid in my school who is thurl's great nephew i think!

Thrul, you will live on always in Disney!

  • Rug Doctor - Steamin' mad at dirt!

  • his voice is sooo deep

  • Listen to that voice. What a legend! He and Paul Frees are my favorites.

  • I LOVE Thurl Ravenscroft. His voice amazes me, I love him, ahhh, I wish I could've met him..

  • @naruino123 I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Ravenscroft in the early 90s. He was a class act, a true gentleman. And he loved to do Tony's voice upon request. His face would go animated, and he'd throw his arm above his head, Tony the Tiger style, as that booming voice would echo through the room: "They're Grrrreat!" It was incredible. I'll never forget him.

  • Kirby the vacuum!

  • How cool it would have been to meet Mr. Ravenscroft. I never realized how many different voices he did, even in the park. Truly amazing. R.I.P. Thurl, can't wait to see you on the other side.

  • You're a mean one...Mr Grinch

  • that interviewer looks like Bill Mumy

  • @mythicky The host's name is J. D. Roth.

  • @DisneyEchoTV That's a "Fun House" for Him, Get it?

  • @mythicky

    not billy mumy.

  • @04sue06 Correct, it is J.D. Roth.

  • So cool:D

  • What an amazing voice! What an amazing guy! We need more good people like Thurl in Hollyweird! Rest in peace, Thurl -- looking forward to seeing you later on! :-)

  • wow I'm honored to had the Chance to many times sit right were Thurl is right now.

    R.I.P MASTER Ravenscroft

  • He is also the vocalist on Your a Mean One Mr. Grinch. Thurl Ravenscroft, the man with the golden voice.

  • God I love this show. Anybody got more Inside Out or Tom Morrow?

  • @SarahNeedsJob Could we request for the Disney Channel to bring this show back. I really miss it.

  • Thurl Ravenscroft is my ultimate hero

  • Thurl is my idol, and I love this. Thank you so much for uploading this.

  • never knew these voices were made by one amazing guy. probably the new generations in disneyland might not know him but his voice will always be remembered.

  • You should have seen the expression on my mothers face when i said MOMMA, MOMMA!

  • Thurl's voice is what has inspired me to do many of my theatre characters, including Oberon, the Grinch, and a Baptist Minister.

  • My last name is ravencroft just one letter off

  • One letter off.

    Doesn't count.

  • Who is the current voice of the Disney Railroad spiels? Was Thurl able to voice the spiel for Toontown station? Or did he pass away before Toontown had opened? Is this Jack Wagner I'm talking about?

  • @koasterkav Jack Wagner was the first voice of the railroad. He passed away in 1995. Different voice actors replaced Jack's voice, circa 1991. Mr. Ravenscroft did the Toontown station, sometime in the early 1990's. You can also hear the voices of Bill Rogers and Matt Hanson at various places, as well as several other voice actors playing various characters.

  • HE's AWESOME!!!!

  • He did tony the tiger! legendary

  • Who is the interviewer? I swear I remember him, though I can't remember for what or, for that matter, what his name is anymore...

  • J.D. Roth.

  • @DisneyEchoTV Did Thurl Play Mr D in the letter people? (1992)

  • I don't know. The Internet Movie Database website does not list him in the cast of that.

  • This guy has the most amazing voice in the world.

  • RIP Thurl Ravenscroft. He also sang Your a mean one, Mr. Grinch in 1966. You will be missed Ravenscroft

  • He was also heard in the movie,SNOOPY COME HOME. Remember the song......NO DOGS ALLOWED,YOU'RE NOT OUR CROWD!

  • @GordonFreeman70 He also sang with the Sportsmen Quartet and Johnny Mann Singers.

  • The man and voice we all love!

  • What a rare find!! (I have to wonder, though...isn't that Jack Wagner as the DL Railroad depot announcer?)

  • Yes, what you hear during the interview is Jack Wagner but Thurl Ravenscroft was one of the people providing the narration for many years at Disneyland.

  • Awesome upload! Thanks for sharing this!

  • I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet him when he was alive as well. All those voices and I never knew it was him. Awesome voice,I can get nearly as low...maybe I should try to get into this stuff lol

Also like someone else said,I'm surprised they never mentioned the grinch song.

  • Wow, I had no idea he did the voice on the train!

  • At one point, he did -- but not now.

  • Isn't it the same recording they've always had?

  • No. They've made many changes through the years as the view of different attractions changes.

  • Oh. That makes sense...Toontown in particular comes to mind.

  • I am surprised that this singer retain in his old age his full deep bass voice. Perhaps, bass Wilfred Glenn could not continue singing this way in his final years. Or not?

  • Thurl Ravenscroft was so adorable and i absolutely {LOVE} his soothing deep bass voice ^_^

  • Nice footage. Thank you for posting :-[) I have a question when was this taped?

  • It is from an old VHS tape of mine I recorded back when the Disney Channel regularly aired quality programming like this, if that gives you any clue! 8=o)

  • Hey, cute Mickey-head emoticon!

  • The country bears were ok, I can't say that replacing them with winnie the pooh was a good decision. I think disney is too obsessed with branding right now and they think all kids want to see is characters they know.

  • why they take out the singing bears

  • The previous Disney administration wanted to replace the Country Bears with Winnie the Pooh and his pals. You still can see the Country Bears at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.

  • Mr. Ravenscroft lived on my street when I was in 3rd grade. My brother and I would go to his house and he'd do the voices for us.

  • cool u lucky^^

  • I'd have to go back to my VHS tape to see the copyright date for that episode, but the entire series ran from about 1993-1998.

  • OMG, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING!!! :D It's great to finally put the face with the voice that has been giving me chills as the Ghost Hosts and made my morning "GGGGGReat" as Tony the Tiger! :D How long ago did this air?

  • The Ghost host was Paul Frees you can hear outtakes from the track under The Genius of Paul Frees here on youtube.

  • Thurl is one of the singing busts in the Haunted Mansion cemetery.

  • damn that prostate cancer for killing him

  • Yeah, that sucks doesn't it?

  • Thurl is AMAZING.

  • Kirby from the Brave Little Toaster!!!

  • "maaa maaa"

    LMAO!!!

Thurl is the BEST!, such a wonderful man.

  • did you meet him ?

    he's awsomeX3

  • But they didn't even *mention* the Grinch song!

  • copyright maybe?

  • It was a show on the Disney Channel, and the interviews were usually not very in-depth.

  • He's GRRREEEAATT!!!!!

  • I remember this show. This was one of the best series that Disney ever put out. :-)

  • May he rest in piece. Who knows, he may be a resident of the Haunted Mansion :)

  • I certainly hope he's haunting the mansion!! It would only be appropriate, after all.

  • who does the voice for the guy at the train station?

  • That might have been Jack Wagner.

  • yes it is and unfortunetly Thurl is no longer the voice of the disneyland railroad in the late 90's his narration was replaced by a new one that gives safty warnings in spanish

  • He Will Always Be A Disneyland Legend

  • Thurl was freaking awesome. What an cool voice!

  • Thurl, thank you for a lifetime of voices, you made, and still make, this kid smile all the time.

  • ITS KIRBY!!!

  • YEAH! This guy is king!!!

  • Legend.

  • The small things such as these voices throughout Disneyland makes the experience so much better. What a wonderful voice this man had. Disneyland would not be the same without them. Mr. Ravenscroft and Mr. Frees.

  • Yeah, just to clear up the confusion, Wagner's voice announced the arrival of the Disneyland Limited at the station. That's the voice you hear in this video.

Ravenscroft is the narrator on board the train. He announces what stations (like the old Frontierland stop) the train will arrive at as well as "take a trip back in time to Grand Canyon and Primeval World."

  • Thurl Ravenscroft was the bomb, its too bad that this legend passed only 3 years ago.

  • he's so cool...i'd chill with thurl!!

  • He was "Kirby" from The Brave Little Toaster!

    :)

  • When was this filmed?

  • 1995 for the Disney Channel's "Disneyland Inside Out" show. Thurl is interviewed by the show's co-host, JD Roth.

  • awesome!

  • Truly a legend.

  • Rest in peace Thurl Ravenscroft

  • All the great Disney legends has passed on. God bless them all for years of hard work.

  • Any idea who the host is? It looks like a much younger Kevin O'Conner from "This Old House"

  • That'd be J.D. Roth, who also co-hosted the Walt Disney World Inside Out shows.

  • I wish I met Thurl Ravenscroft, but it was too late.

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

A favorite. Long time ago, I didnt want to comment

  • So cool!!!!

  • Thurl is still GRRREAT after all these years!

  • MY HERO!

  • Man, he had a cool voice. Ever since I was a kid and saw The Brave Little Toaster I thought it would be cool to talk like that. I'm a bass, but jeez, he hits notes nobody can hit!

  • Yes, when they heard the audio that was Jack Wagner's voice -- but Thurl Ravenscroft was also a narrator on the Disneyland Railroad at one time.

  • Ah, the legendary Thurl! Great interview clip, but I think they edited something wrong... when it cuts to the train pulling into the station, I thought that was Jack F. Wagner's voice?

Nonetheless, Thurl is a familiar voice throughout the parks and early Disney films, and many other places. In addition to Tony the Tiger, he sings "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" (uncredited) in the animated special.

What an incredible talent and amazing list of credits! We miss you, Thurl, RIP!
