Her works depict the harsh conditions of life in Communist Romania under the repressive Nicolae Ceauşescu regime, the history of the Germans in the Banat (and more broadly, Transylvania), and the persecution of Romanian ethnic Germans by Stalinist Soviet occupying forces in Romania and the Soviet-imposed communist regime of Romania.

Müller also went on to say that Romanian folk music holds a special place in her heart. "Romanian folk music is connected to existence in a very meaningful way"
