  • O my goodness i simply loved how Miyazaki used the storm 1:43 , as a foreshadowing of a tragic moment to come. Artistic mind this man has... the aesthetics is apparent.

  • By the way, when you uploaded it, you cut off the guy's last word. Could you please reupload?

  • so...i can't rent this?

  • is there an English version somewhere?

  • Oh man, Yuki no Taiyou is one of my favorite manga! I wish there was more...

  • I'd love to see this anime go on air. First ever work by Miyazaki. <33333

  • Ahhhh this is before he shook off the influence of Tezuka. Very interesting. =)

  • 貴重な動画。

  • Miyazaki in his TMS days...shweet.

It really could have been a hard hitter, but damn this is one of the reasons why I prefer a lot of older anime.

  • A great find! I'm curious, though, if this is the entire pilot film, or merely a segment. It's common for pilots to play through several segments, like a highlight reel of where the animators want to go (like the original 1969 Lupin pilot). Thanks for sharing!

  • This was all that was ever released. It was shown for the first time ever in a thirty-minute special, entitled, "Sen to Chihiro wo sembai tanoshimu houhou" (How to enjoy Spirited Away a thousandfold) that aired on the evening of the world broadcast premeire of Spirited Away.

  • It's pretty good, despite some static animation sequences. And, though rather truthfully based on a Chiba Tetsuya manga, it seems to have some of Miyazaki's trademarks, such as a spunky heroine, and pigs.

  • Yeah what's with the pig motif? Are they Miyasaki's favourite animal or something?

  • He does indeed have a fondness for pigs, and has remarked on their resemblance to human beings (though I don't know the exact quote).

  • This is Miyazaki's first work as solo director, having co-directed most of the first Lupin III series with Isao Takahata in 1971.
