please help! i need to play midis files on my ts-10, is it possible by a midi cable? is possible write on ts-10 memory the midi file by the midi cable, and than after write in the flop?
@rickybeann I don't see why the GM sound couldn't be edited to do what you need, but GM sounds are supposed to be basic "generic" sounds with little more than velocity and maybe pitch bend / modulation wheel (LFO.)
I have many yet to post. If you can remember the song titles it may help. Most songs loaded along with a few samples which the discs no longer will load. I was hoping others would respond to this video with some other songs myself. Let me know and I will post what I can, even if its without the samples. A few songs I can recall would be Bill-Bat-V1,TECHNOTEX-V2, and WORLD-CLB-V2. They sound ok without the samples, but its not the same.
Brings back memories. Thanks for putting it up! I seem to recall these are the demos of Version 2 of the OS. Do you happen to have the demo songs from the first OS? (the ones that shipped with the original batch of TS-10s)
@MangoldProject I must have missed this in the "in box." Sorry for the delayed response. As far as I know, the difference between OSv1 and OSv2 is that the sample discs will not "auto load/prompt " in OS v1. If there are other enhancements, I have no documentation for it.
This drumbeat sample is sounding a very fammiliar. Listen this Sergio Mendes's song "Kalimba" from the Brasileiro album. The drummer is Jeff Porcaro and this is sounding just like that and the snare rever is just the way same. So i quess it's a sample from that album intro where Jeff is playing the beat.
You can, I am currently selling my Ensoniq TS-12 for $700.00. I am in Albuquerque, NM. It is in perfect condition because I had it as a spare. It is fully loaded with the maximum memory that could be put in at the time.
Comes with:
New hard case; New keyboard cover; New dual keyboard stand; Sample sounds on floppy disks; Foot pedal; Manual and cord. You can email me at COCAtABQ@hotmail.com.

Darn it. after hearing this demo, I wish I would have gotten the TS12 instead of the KS-32. Had I waited just a lttle longer. THen again, I just ordered the Ensoniq Halo. We'll see if I really like it., Didn't find any demos of that one, other than great reviews.
@link0587 The KS32's sounds are very capable though I'm not certain of the performance features available. I have had no experience with the Halo and a video on that would be interesting. Hope to see it soon. ; )
@willrobinsonensoniq So I got the Ensoniq Halo, but never decided to do a review since after a few months of having it, I decided I wasn't impressed. It's essentially an EMU synth with some ZR76 sounds and an absolutely dreadful interface. I mean, it had a decent arpeggiator, but no sequencer (it had a read only sequencer) and crappy, cheap feeling keys, Creative and EMU certainly soiled the Ensoniq name. I sold it and am looking for another ZR.
@link0587 Its unfortunate that the Ensoniq name was obliterated that way. I shun the new Roland and Korg boards today for so many reasons the top one being the sound is so flat. The Motif series still gives me hope that the manufactures have not given up on the musicians. Maybe Ensoniq would have a chance in todays market if they would build a solid product with an identity and signature sound. Ahhh... to dream.

I have both the TS-10 and 12. The best and most intuitive workstations ever made! These were so far ahead of anything else on the market. Synth, sampler, effects, sequencer - all in one box! Use the Geibler utilities and Chicken systems on a PC and the possibilities were endless! I was so bummed when Ensoniq went under. The only problem with the TS-12 is the Fatar keyboard whose weights fall-off.
@Lot2learn I lug the Ts12 to gigs and practice and have not had a keyboard weight issue as of yet. Then again I am very careful to not start and break quickly while transporting. How did your keyboard weight break if I may ask?
They break with hard playing, or lots of use. KT series may be worse, but I've got several weights off both of my KT series. One of the "show off" guys at Branson, MO used to use them in a grand piano case ... he basically hammered them to death within a couple of months. The "good news" as far as he was concerned was that, for KT's, anyway, the price was "low enough" he could replace them at will.
@renaissongsman I cannot agree with that mentality... maybe the guy has changed his ways since then. At least for the sake of the remaining Ensoniq KT series boards on the planet.
Regarding buying a TS10--don't. They are a very hot keyboard costing over $1000 on Ebay.
The TS12 with weighted keys and newer version of the OS should be more valuable but actually go for less than $500 on ebay. With the difference you could purchase a small Axiom unweighted keyboard to play your lead parts and get the Axiom's midi dials and faders too, a weakness of the TS.
At the time of it's release the sound a board made was more preferable than twiddling knobs. The exception was the Roland JD 800. Too bad really. Imagine a TS loaded with knobs and sliders.
As of June, 2009, there has been no better synth made to date. And I own a Korg Oasys and a Roland V-syth GT amoung 36 other synths. This video is the standard fare--not even where the TS series shines. Currently I have 5 TS12s & 2 TS10s. Don't know why the 12s only get a third what the 10s sell for. Must be the wieght factor--very solid sunths.
I would say the Poly AfterTouch is most likely the reason for the added value of the TS10's. The performance side of the TS12 is my favorite. The patch select buttons are everywhere now though. I carry the TS12 around easily enough now, soon enough my back will probably snap. Til then... 7 TS's? That certainly takes care of the 32 note polyphony issue. ; ) What part of the TS do find most useful?
The effects and their ease of use are both unique and superior to any other synth as far as my ears are concerned. The waves are unreal now and when they were created in the early 90s. Seriously, I get goose bumps just thinking about the TS series. Having more than one also adds to the sequence ability and I use the TS sequencer instead of a computer based sequencer. I run other synths through midi commands and it works flawlessly. How did they make such huge sounds with so little memory!!!
Excellent engineering is how Ensoniq managed the sound quality. The Fantoms and M3/M50's sound compressed and lifeless. They have plenty of processing, but do not measure up to the dynamics my ears have come to expect. I too do not use computer software. The built-in sequencer is very capable. Everything else in my studio put together can not add up to the Ensoniq gear. Though the sonic variety is welcome.
I'm not so much into the sample playback part of the board either. Drum loops and vocal snips and such never offered any creative outlets for me. Maybe someday. Thanks for responding. ; )
There are certainly sonic similarities between the two. The performance features were the best I could find in those days on any board. Is it everything for everyone? No. Though I find it very intuitive, enough to use for live and studio applications.
Three samples was all that was needed. The DATA speaking, one for the Orchestral, the other I forget. The rest was internal sounds. This is still my prime source of inspiration.

i know that for general midi, this keyboard don´t have "aftertouch", but to use by a controll wtih a midi cable in a pc, will "aftertouch" work?

hello i don´t know if you could help me, I have a esoniq ts-10 in order to buy, but the seller told me that if
you write something in it (by disk), the pc is not able to read with
a specific format, the same thing if you record a midi file on a PC, the keyboard is not able to read without, is this true? thanks!
rickybeann 4 months ago
Do you think it would be worth buying this synth if it doesn't come with any of its original disks?
brownbunny1000 1 year ago
@brownbunny1000 If the price is right and the disc drive works , you can still get sounds online. There is more to the board than sounds.

@willrobinsonensoniq it's the hammer weights on the keyboard action that break with playing.
