@Klightning5 they sort of stopped when they made the new album. The Unforgiven III is in e minor, for example, All Nightmare long is in d minor. In this video it sounds like they dropped half a step or one whole step (c# or even c), though I didn't check it out yet. I also think that at the beginning of the DM tour (I was in Berlin on Death Magnetic Day) they didn't tune down that much...
@katho8472 since the 90's they always drop half a step, I know DM is in E but in live show they always play it in Eb (Db when they play all nightmare long)
@thelegendoflink52 Yes, as much as I love those guys: drop tuning sucks (guitar sound-wise)! James doesn't need it for his voice anymore, he could just sing an octave lower...
@luftman for guitars, yes, rob plays it in standard E, maybe, since he uses 5 string bass guitars (and thats the way it's been written the official bass tab book). but in this video, it's drop C# or even drop C for the guitars - and thus probably the way the play it live everywhere...
@TuneBride I think Dm (d minor) as key for Nightmare is perfect. No need to get deeper than that... The guitars sound so much wobblier - if thats a word.
@purplehalfstack sometime drummer modify how the play. In Lars case he did not do double bass because it does not help define the guitar solo as much as it did in the album since the balance is different than in the album. but still it dont matter it still sounds amazing
that was not the official dvd version but the version broadcasted by canal+. You can clearly hear the different if you listen to the vocals and the drums.
WHOA!! What was that at 7:41-ish? Totally awesome, James!

@katho8472 you say it like it's a bad thing. I think it sounds much darker and awesome. Fitting for an album called Death Magnetic. :P
