Nothing against the band, they are a good band! However, you can tell the video was edited to make it look as though the President was actually paying attention to them. Anyone with an uncut version of of this, check for yourselves.
Did you happen to notice the word "live" up in the left hand corner? Explain to me how they edit a "live" broadcast. Oh, wait, your an Alabama fan so you just could not resist being nasty. I didn't see Alabama's band in the parade. Or did I miss that?
The word LIVE stayed on the ENTIRE broadcast! I know, because I have a copy of the ENTIRE event. Therefore, editing is EASY to do. Also, I went back, on MY uncut, unedited video of when the Vols Band was marching by. The president was CLEARLY shown turned and speaking to dignitaries in the booth.
Don't take my word for it, get a TRUE copy and see for yourself.
With that said, I thought it was RUDE as hell for him NOT to give his attention to them, just as he did some others. They were GREAT!
Also as further "evidence" from THIS posted version. Check out the word LIVE at 0:58 secs into the video. It wiggles and squirms. Also at 1:27 into the video, listen to the sound and see what you hear. Did the band just STOP playing and then start again? NO. It is edited.
And, as I said before, I think the band is EXCELLENT! I have seen them in person playing and they are always fantastic! I was NOT bashing the band here. I was making a FACTUAL statement that the Pres should have been watching!

My kid is in the Pride and had endured almost 12 hours in the freezing cold to get to march that event. Thanks for supporting the Pride. They work really hard. Us band parents can be sensitive and I'm sorry I misinterpreted your comments.
Thats ok. It's easy for people to get sensitive about their loyalties, but especially so when it involves their children. I have a daughter in high school in the band and she will go to Alabama in 2010 where she will continue in the band. Anyway, no foul, no harm. It was FREEZING at that parade and the band was playing their hearts out and the President was turned and talking when they passed. I thought it was very rude of him considering everything. They were invited on his behalf!
The Pride of the Southland never fails to give me goosebumps! Wow. You have to give it to those majorettes, too, who were twirling with gloves on and probably freezing to death. What an impressive showing!
The Pride of the Southland Marching Band stood head and shoulders above the other Bands. Only 3 military bands could compare. The President had been looking a little bored and talking to the Vice President prior to the Pride coming by. Both the President and the Vice President had to stop and take notice of the Pride of the Southland. "Sharp"!

I would just like to congratulate all of the members of the Pride of the Southland and thank them for representing our state for the 12th consecutive time at the Presidential Inaugural Parade. No other college band has ever done that. On another note, this is not the football team and it is not even close to football season. There is absolutely NO REASON to argue over football here. Pride, thank you again.
