  • Wow, awesome! I'm currently working on this piece for my college dissertation in a few weeks, and your speed is pretty damn intimidating. Thank God I don't have to play it that fast!

  • @mantlepicture Thanks for the kind words, and good luck for your college dissertation!

  • Wow! Killer playing. So fast and clear.

How did you go about learning it?

I cannot get my tremolo up to that speed, and memorization of the moving bass gives me trouble too. HArd stuff! Even if it is 'an etude.'

  • @gtrrobster Thanks for the awesome comment!

It's not really a tremolo as the right hand fingering is pmim/pimi rather than pami, but when learning this piece I just took it mega slow with a metronome & built up speed bit by bit. Planting also helps.

If the bass line gives you trouble I'd ignore the rest of the notes and practice just the bass line on it's own with the thumb, no trebles - this should help with memorisation.

  • @mattdnetto

Thanks for the quick reply! Funny thing is, I do not have too much trouble with the pimi arpegios, as in ms 2 (Descending D C B A). It is the tremolo in ms 1 (A note), or on C note at start of 2nd section. I will refer to Pumping Nylon for Scott's advice.

Good advice on how to mem bass line. Just play the bass line, and add treble after. It is all about isolating, yes? Planting REALLY helps too!

Good playing bro. Glad I found your channel. A GREAT reference

  • @gtrrobster Having a look at pumping nylon sounds like a good idea - playing with a dotted rhythm usually helps to smooth things out.

With regards to the bass line, yes it's absolutely about isolating and being able to 'hear' the bass line as one fluid melody or set of phrases rather than just single bass notes fitted in between the treble groups.

Thanks again for the kind words!

  • no entiendo ni a los que piensan que "tocar rapido" = "tocar bien"

  • @imnotlarry I don't think anyone on here is saying "playing fast" = "playing well".

  • :S why so fast?

  • @Sanotaru92 Feel free to pick any of the following answers: (a) Any piece is open to individual interpretation - would be a bit dull if we all played it the same way! (b) Tempo marking = Allegro - fast, quickly and bright (120–168 bpm). (c) This isn't exceptionally fast in my opinion, just brisk & with movement. (d) why the hell not! Happy viewing.

  • @Sanotaru9 Because is ALLEGRO!!!!!! Just Like That...120-140bpm aprox.

  • This one gave me an erection.

  • @mangore623 Ha! That is hands down the best comment on any of my videos!
