  • lol terrible video

  • lol this is elevator music XD

  • @takeabullet1 +11 m8! awesomeee commentttt!!!!

  • tune down 1 key?

  • sympa

  • id like it better with the grand piano voice, this weird organ stuff makes it less authentic

  • sound like sim city 2000 loool

  • nice man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sorry to disappoint you man, but this is really far from jazz/blues. For the first lesson of jazz, try to use the next scale: C D# E# F# G A# C. But generally, you have to learn and then teach. if you want a good jazz lesson, find 7notemode channel. This guy is damn good (my personal opinion)

  • COOL

  • some good jazz improv my friend

  • Precious man.. gOOD sONG

  • thanks

  • Sweeeeet dude

  • groovy, man

kind of a supertramp sort of jazz thats awesome

you should work on your voicing and projection a little more than pure speed

  • your left hand kinda sounds like avenue q ..haha

  • I'm playing a chord progression of

    C7 Am7 Dm7 and Gdominant7? LOL

    Something like that.... not sure

What mode/scales should I use to improvise over that, and what variation of notes should I use in my left hand.

  • B superlocrian...Always sounds great.

    Just kidding.

Try G mixolydian perhaps with some D dorian or something.

  • Over the C7 play C Mixolidyan, and over the Am and Dm play C major. That'll work out just fine.

  • thank you for this vid!!!

  • sarpadoo very very great ... excelent!

  • Hey , thanks a lot for helping people like me , that are looking for some info on internet. THANKS A LOT ! Lima-Perú.

  • not blues buddy! Based on 1,4,5. Not jazz. Based on 2,5,1

  • I tagged it 'Blues' because of the use of the minor third in a major key. The use of the Blue note this case gives it an underlying Bluesy Feel.

  • these are typical changes for the genres, but not only! It could be jazz blues, the blues without typical simplicity, but still with a little blues feel.

Another thing: if you have a bass player, he could make it for example I V II V (Cmaj7 G7 Dm7 G7).

But I think it's rather new age style, and such jazz piannist as Keith Jarret (Specially the Koln Concert) influenced this style. I know this certain piece is very simple, but it's very common in new age.

  • left hand sounds a bit boring .. but still a good work

  • did you say Em7 or Dm7? I think it is Dm7 because you said A, C, D, and F.

    just want to confirm.

  • thanks for showing your finger work. nice lesson.

  • Great Lesson!

  • you should let people know that you're down a halfstep.

    Unless I missed that part

  • yow thats the greatest jazz i have heard. do you think i can play that on bass as well i would like to

  • I liked it. No matter its name - blues or jazz. Thanks for the tips. ;)

  • good!

  • Pretty good tips man, but your keyboard is wayy out of tune.. unless you unknowingly have it transposed or something? I'm just startin with blues (self taught), I've got a video, any pointers?

  • Nice stuff yeah! :)

    watch alsow my movie's

  • nice sutff

  • hey, your piano sounds nice... what is the measure of this song?

  • Hvala ti na svemu.

    Bas si dobar drug.

  • I liked it. I didn't like only looking at your right hand mostly though.

  • This is really good! wow!

  • this isnt a typical blues scale, 90% is jazz

  • Sweet! :) keep on going!

  • Dude you said the wrong chords you're actually using Gm7, Cm7 and Dm7.

  • No, I am playing "Cmaj7", "Dm7" and "Em7" but my piano is transposed a whole tone down. Well done for pointing it out though.

  • A whole step down would be BbM7, Cm7, Dm7...I dont know how you pulled a Gm7 chord out of that.

  • I don't know how he did that either. Maybe he was getting confused with another inversion of the chord.

  • @MusicGuru12

I realize I am a few years late in saying this, but if you take a BbM7 and "put it on top of" a G, you have a Gm7 add 9, which might be causing some confusion (the two chords are almost interchangeable, one being the relative minor of the other, and the other being the relative major of the other). Now maybe some of us can sleep at night...

  • @MrJazz1024 You are completely right. This video was made over 4 years ago and fortunately I have a much better grip on chords, their extensions and voicings now!. Thanks though!

  • Haha, cool ending: "and, err... yeah!". Nice playing!

  • Sucks when you have to read people telling you what you should and shouldn't do with YOUR song. Eh. Nice technique.

  • It's bad when people try to BOSS you around :P

But if someone is giving tips, it's ok! :)

  • that good a little more phrsing would make you better

  • Yeah. You've got great ideas, but you need some phrasing work with your right hand melodies. You sound good though.

  • Yeah. This was 6 months ago. I have studied into some more jazz and I understand phrasing a bit more now though. Thanks! :D

  • great lesson! but why have you transposed a whole step down?

  • Sorry! I forgot to transpose it back to concert pitch before the video. =\

  • oh, and by the way, I like your piano, what's the reference ?

  • This is really good. Why wasn't my piano teacher as good as you? More please!

  • Lol, I transpose my keyboard sometimes too, I'm a hell of alot better in "c" or "f" than I am in, say "Eb", or "G#", lol.

  • good i think you should find a more "informative" camera angle

  • Check out my latest videos. I have created a better angle.

  • Nice but where is the"blues"?

    C13[ Bb13[Am7[ Ab13[ F7 [Bb11[Am7[Ab13[Gm7,A7[D9,G13[

    C7,F7{ C7,G7[[ Try that.

  • I call it blues because the right hand has blues licks in it. Thanks for the chords.

  • how old are u? u sounds hot haha

  • thankz!!!:-)

  • Very good, always learn something from you. Thanks again!!

  • Hey nice blues with keybord, u can watch mine, as I say there don't expect anything amazing, because I've started learning the basics a few days ago, you can go to my account: ambullseye

ps I have a Chopin Walz played crappy, I'll son update it. Cheers

  • is this keyboard transposed?

  • Yes, it was transposed down to B flat.

  • Right!

  • that's really good

  • Liked it but the trick with jazz is to really pick the notes your about, insted of making the blues piano riffs sound jazzey. Good try though

  • Thanks, I will take that into account =)

  • Also, as you can see I am more of a blues guy.

  • As you can obviously see, this guy is all about the blues, so his jazz is going to almost always have a blues flavor in there somewhere. Jazz is about feeling and emotion and interpretation. This is how musicguru interprets his jazz style, and it's fine.

  • zm177 - you have to put the sheet music away and listen to what's inside - guru's music is far more musical than yours - no disrespect, but years of lessons and exercises does not equate to music unless you let yourself go a little bit - you need to have influences - not just teachers

    respect
