why would evolution on an other planet suitable for (really) intelligent life favor species which don't need to figure out how and where to get their next meal since bowing their heads and graze is enough

of course they come to Earth of all possible places, with an eco system on the verge of collapse, nations fighting wars over who's got the least plausible imaginary, omnipotent being, which always turns out to be the one imagined by those with the biggest, baddest, most destructive hardware and the required stupidity level to actually use 'm

And all ETs with tech levels that look like magic to us, have to do is wait until we wipe out as much potential opposition for them as we possibly can

so, these "aliens" travel interstellar space or between dimensions in ways we can't even begin to understand, (damn, we don't even know what causes gravity or why the expansion of the universe is still accelerating) and then after traversing immense distances between the stars they reach Earth and start crashing their "shuttle crafts" all over the place for us to find and no one even seems to think: hey, what if all these nice sleek sport models are the aliens' version of a Trojan horse?
