What is the best wood for pyrography? I recently did a lakers logo on a sanded to smoothness of a 1x6 Pine!! It looks nice but the "veins" make certain spots hard to burn with accuracy! Anyone please msg me with tips, I had never done this, but I did my first with a soldering iron! :)
Hello, ive been enjoying your art now for a long time and i would like to know if i could do the same wood effect with a simple soldering iron?,and also what kind of wood should i use thank you very much and hope you reply!
@excalebuir Thank you. I've never tried using a soldering iron so I cant tell you for sure. My guess is that you can use it but you wont get is much detail without a tip. Wallnut hollow makes a cheap woodburning pen thats only 10 to 15 bucks thats what I started with. You can use pretty much any kind of wood. I prefer basswood.
I have two different types of wood burning tools, one is solid point the other is open. Can you tell me how easy this one is to use and how hot it gets when using it? The solid tip gets pretty warm. I am looking for one I can use that won't burn my fingers very often. And the one you're using is available at the Woodsmith store here in town.
@iagrl I have only used the pen that you see here so I can't tell you which is better, but It is easy to use. I have a dial temp with it but even on it's highest setting it doesn't get to hot to hold.
It's very nice I would like to buy this tool but i don't know it's suitable for use in Asia zone which the volt is 200volt Do you know the tool can adjust?
I'm pretty new to this art form. I'm wondering how you got the red tint/color to the bricks. I've seen some other pyro...on here & wondered the same thing. However, some of them seem to use oil pastels/pencils to color. However, it looks as if you are able to tint simply by burning. I'm curious how that comes about. :)
I bow down to your skill again and again. I am just trying to decorate a small piece with pyrography, but I don't want to buy an electric tool. How was it done in the past? This technique is as old as the Egyptians. Any clue? Thanks.
I would like to woodburn like you and like to know so tips on how to do stuff like you.. Ime nick frm texas
