  • Great video, much better than the original!! Love this one!

  • What is that white tube in there mouthes?

  • @Zayin1993 The auto-tune!

  • WOW!!!!!

  • very good, very good.

  • muito bomm...

  • Who is the other guy singing with Roger on the right on the end? He is hot

  • @ZendallFan Rogers son .. Roger (:

  • Thats my shit!

  • This is one of the best performances ever. I should've been grown back then.

  • OMG,I love them I just have a huge crush on Roger troutman nd his son, they are so cute and talented RIP Love ya ;)

  • he played at Edwards Air Force base in 1989. What a great evening! Miss him.

  • Man I love this song itz a classic

  • Such a shame this has less than 600,000 views.

  • Love & Basketball(:

  • they were the best

  • look at those acient autotunes..lol..they rocked it

  • @preperationX yes, its called the talk box

  • Wat r those tubes in their mouths for? Do they feed helium to the band members so they get that high pitched note?

  • Which guy in the video shot him?

  • roger was a genuine person w great personality, He was taken away 2 soon. He was a good role model he didn't do drugs and preached positivity RIP Rog

  • Pure GENIUS! RIP Mr Troutman!

  • So Roger invented that voice box device himself right???

  • @Mr87sam No, he's just the master of the talk box.

  • Fantastic!

  • ANOTHER GENIOUS song wooooow the memories omggg :D

  • Não me canso de ver esse vídeo. Essa música me traz lembranças de quando eu tinha 12 anos de idade.

Também perdi pessoas queridas na vida. Amados Zappa and Roger, descansem em paz.

  • 0:42 WHO IS HE ??!

  • @anekste I think thats Roger Troutman Jr....

  • @anekste lol--he was super cute..but thats Roger's son Roger Lynch Troutman II--he had him performing with the band as a teenager (not sure how old he was in this video probably late teens/early 20s).But he has sinced passed away back 2003-not too long after his dad and uncle in 1999,not quite sure exactly how but he was found non responsive and i think they said it was some sort of head injury.Really sad..he was young.

  • He seems so free with the music. Its like its effortless. Just as sure as he can think it, the music comes out.... I'm still try'n to reach that level.

  • im trying to figure out how they died. i was reading some info on wikipedia regarding their death. if im correct: larry killed his brother, roger, and then killed himself???

  • roger rocks....forever R.I.P.

  • kids. stfu or leave. this is one of musics greatest artists.

  • rip roger ... nothing will EVER replace him

  • @wahiawathunderbolts3 What's the problem kid? Obviously not everyone wants to understand how things work but the better option in that case is to keep quiet. The problem for you now is that everyone here is probably thinking wahiawathunderbolts3 must have some kind of inferiority complex due to his/her extraordinary ignorance. No one would hold it against you if you asked for a diagram but it's really not that complicated.

  • This is AMAZING! You see...these are the days when people actually SUNG THEIR SONGS!

In today's days they jump on stage with the autotune lip syncing, making the people actually think they're gifted with a talent.

  • POOTIE TANG, POOTIE TANG!

  • this is music. When you play a song on your radio cd player or whatever and you see them live and it sounds the same or better then thats real talent and real music. Half the singser now days can't even sing live.

  • They were in TUCSON's Desert Diamond Casino last night for NEW YEARS EVE and put on a FABULOUS SHOW! In the memory of his two brothers... In the end he asked all to give thanks to the LORD YESHUA/JESUS for all good things and blessings! Now these are the types of role models our kids need today!!! Not some gangsta rapper!!! GOD BLESS ROGER and keep up the great work!!!

  • @Taharah007 You really got me with that comment...

  • @Taharah007 Damn! u just put down gangsta rappers! i hope you teach your kids not to stereotype others like you do

  • @Taharah007 amen to that huni!!!! but the role model part ... R.I.P. roger :( you are what made Zapp!!!

  • @Taharah007 still is, baby

  • They were in TUCSON's Desert Diamond Casino last night for NEW YEARS EVE and put on a FABULOUS SHOW! In the end he (Roger) asked all to give thanks to the LORD YESHUA/JESUS for all good things and blessings! Now these are the types of role models our kids need today!!! Not some gangsta rapper!!! GOD BLESS ROGER and keep up the great work!!!

  • @wahiawathunderbolts3 The 'talk box' essentially takes the amplified output of a musical device such as a keyboard and feeds it through a plastic tube. The performer then 'mimes' the words to the song and, in doing so, changes the formants (vowel sounds). So he is playing the melody on the keyboard but 'shaping' its sound with his mouth. Obviously this signal is a lot quieter so it must be directed into a microphone.

  • @terrybahoon THANK YOU!!! I am so tired of seeing these comments concerning this device by people who do not know what they are talking about.

    Thanks...

  • @Guitfiddlejase Hey, no worries

  • oh yes zapp and roger love this song old school forever

  • this is truly what funk is they should be known more

  • Roger waz a true Icon I think he should be more known for being a really talented, smart, and special to music buzz.

  • It's so sad how Roger's own brother killed him. He was so original and talented. This song is an all time classic! :)

  • wow just watched "Unsung" today and had to watch this. I didnt grow up listening to this band but I can still appreciate the music. And damn they had to put it into their mouth like a straw? lol

  • Excuse me. This was filmed in 1989.

  • I was there at the filming of this show. And "VOCODER" is what Roger called the "VOICE BOX ". He' still missed, but his sound is jacked every day.

  • This footage comes from BET in 1999. It was "Roalty", " Al B. Sure" and Roger & Zap as the headliners. I think this song was #3 and Al. B. Sure's " Night and Day" went # 1 that week. This was BET's first attempt at live performance. I was in the music industry as a road manager at the time. I knew Roger in passing having work at concerts with him and Zap alot. Roger was alway''s proffessional, smart but I remember his sense of humor the most. By the way, it's a "VOCODER" not a "VOICEBOX".

  • I could never get sick of this song ;)

  • ROGER THE KING

  • autotune at its best

  • talk box foo!

  • talk box and autotune is the same thing. they just didn't have the technology back then how they do now to put it on a computer like mac does with garage band.
