That 1st leg by Gladisch around a bend, is probably quicker than Flo-Jo's WR in a straight line lol, a superhuman performance bettered only by Koch's first 300m in her 47.6 WR.
Tbh ALL records are meaningless anyway, as from year to year they don't even run on the same surface.
to run3 hours,,the was one 4x100m relay of the US,,they passed the world record for 1/100 s,,it was on the 3.7.1983 in Colorado Springs by 41.61s,(Brown,Williams,Cheeseborough,Ashford)
lol! The cold war has ended and so has their mandatory drug program for atheletics! In fact, I'm well informed that if you were to go over Stasi records (Easter German State Security), there you'd find the secrets of their drug program monitoring!
You cant assure us of anything about any athlete. As for the bullshit speculation about dope users here, your wasting your time they were a mustard sprint quartet and nothing will ever change that.
well, looks like its easy for the americans to talk about ddr doping program back in the 80's, but what about the BALCO scandal??? maybe we should speak about talent and hard work too ;)
Jackie Joyner Kersee was not clean, her marks are as unreachable as those of the Soviets and East Germans and, in fact, she barely surpassed the seven meters in the later stages of her career. The great Carolina Klüft will never bear her heptathlon record either...
The second best women's relay off all-time is when my girl Gail Devers anchored the 4x1 in 1997 at the world championships. It was Chrystie Gaines to Marion Jones to Inger Miller to Gail Devers. The time was 41.47, a tenth of a second off the world record. I'm STILL looking for that race.
I bet they are glad now they weren't, lots of the east german women athletes are now really sick or have had sex changes because of the 'little blue pills' and other 'vitamins' they took...
Ain't it kind of strange that most of the current women's track and field world records were set way back in the 80's. No one has come close to breaking the 400m one by Marita Koch over 20 years later or the two set by Flo Jo. When Kelly Holmes won the 800m gold in Athens her time wouldn't have got a medal in the Moscow 80 final, an amazing 24 years earlier!
I feel sorry for all their opponents who were cheated out of gold medals:-(
Gail Devers is clean. She wouldn't even take medication that was on the banned list when she was going through her Graves' disease. She is one athlete that I can pretty much assure you is drug-free.
Sorry her association with Bob Keerse, u know her coach ? The drug coach and her skin problem and bulging eyes - those alone r signs or steriod use. But Keerse is deep into drugs and Val, Flo, Jackie, Gail , Pam all on drugs.. they used to share info with the Canadian coach Charlie Francis about who was testing and which events at which meets, how to pyramid their drugs etc... so please don't be assuring anyone the Devers is drug free ..

Her skin problem and bulging eyes were signs of GRAVES disease, which she has..along with her hair loss and weight fluctuations.. look it up. People are always so quick to assume that everyone great has or is using drugs. There are some honest athletes out there who succeed. DAMN.
my bday! :D

this record should be disallowed due to the fact that they used drugs
iTormenTi 3 years ago
if they used drugs clearly the women's 100 and 200m record would have been faster! don't u think
