man, a friend of mine gave me their cassette back in '86 I think..i was stationed with the 101st Airbourne..wish I had kept it!!!..thank god for youtube..love the sharks
We had the Sharks at F&M for the 25th Reunion bash for the Class of 1984. They were amazing, especially Sammy. It was deja vu for those of us from '84, but the dancefloor was packed with the current students and more recent classes. The band never sounded better. Just weeks later, we lost Sam. RIP to the best college band ever - and those unbelievable nights at Chi Phi in the early '80's!
Ahhh....memories....always saw them at the Silo in Reading Pa....was a huge loss when we lost Sam!!! Saw Shea recently though....still rockin' away!! Loved his chicken parm song.....ROTFL!!!!!!!!
Last time I saw them was New Year's eve at the Metron in 89, I think. Some chick stepped on my foot with her stilleto, and broke one of my bones. I couldn't dance for the rest of the night :- (
The band was everywhere while attending Millersville 82-85. In Lancaster, OGO frat parties, and if I remember opened for the Go-Go's & Flock of Seagulls at City Island, Harrisburg in September 1982. The shirt is history - worn out, but the memories remain. Great covers of Romantics, Billy Idol, The Clash, plus of course their own music. Still have the album with the chick on the front! It was a big day at the Ville when the student center tv room got MTV.
My dad, Doug Phillips, is the drummer............I love him and I'm so proud of him!! Thank you to all the wonderful people who believed in the band and supported them through the years!!!!! Rest in peace Sam.....we all miss you!!
Thanks for posting this, living in Seattle, I just don't think to check the Sharks site much anymore and just learned of Sam's passing. Their concert was the first I ever saw and still love them to this day. Rest in Peace Sam and to all other Sharks fans be well.
