In Kern County, Chevron's largest California oil field is doing more to the area's economic stability.
___My proposal for " CHEVRON" ? to give a new energy for extending oil production ,by detecting oil and using a force beyond human competence -that modern top technology from North pole to South pole couldn't made better-tha's my great speciality - see the blog : petroleonline.unblog.fr - for further informations.
This video is poorly put togehter, with pictures from oil rigs in other locations and so on. The key to putting something like this together is it must be believeable.
Fuck Chevron. Bob Eaton, corrupt POS former Chairman of Chrysler responsible for many safety defects and knowingly doing nothing about them is now on the board of directors.
I'm sure they have done their damage but I won't buy Chevron fuel, ONLY Shell (BP) or 76(ConocoPhillips).
For more information about Bob Eaton who is now on the board of Chevron (since 2000), check out /watch?v=dcl3itb1_Ow
From 1964 until 1992, CHEVRON, the U.S. corporation dumped in excess of 18.5 billion gallons of acutely toxic "produced water" into more than 650 open and unlined pits, as well as directly into the swamps, streams and rivers that make up the Amazon rainforest of north-eastern Ecuador. Chevron should be charge on GENOCIDE!
Wow...give me a break. Good intentions but rather pointless. Problems lie within the individual consumers, the sole reason that corporations are able to exist and be profitable.
But then again, legislation and corporate ownership are consumer driven. I am not just talking about the consumption of oil, I am talking about it in the general sense of buying products. Shareholders are interested in protecting their money so that they can ensure that their investment will enable them to consume in the future (Retirement). Legislation is about structuring an environment that regulates the way we consume.
It is way more complicated than that. Corporations practically run our government, the mainstream media- which is owned by a select few- supports corporations, and our education system is extremely dumbed down to the point where people are divided on politics and kept apathetic. It's the whole fucking system and the consumers are only doing what society tells them to.
You both have really valid points. But in the end, it all leads back to the consumer. The reason Chevron secures these resources is because the market (Demand) tells it to. These organizations are made up of individuals that share the same concerns that we do, but the organizations are "dumb" in that for the most part they react to legislation, shareholders, and consumers, the consumer factor being the largest.

Check out Chevron's website- search Ecuador, spend some time and really learn more about another side of the story. This type of inflamatory video does not help solve the problem. The government is just as much part of the problem here.
Why would Chevron document on its website its role in poisoning thousands of indigenous people in Ecuador? The problem certainly will not be solved by ignoring it.

BOYCOTT CHEVRON who is responsible for the anti prop 87 ads in turn causing global warming and war. Chevron and its employees are the scum of the earth.
Boycott chevron, go to their competitors.
Chevron competitors include: * BP * Exxon Mobil * Royal Dutch Shell
I beg to differ. What evidence can you provide which clearly demonstrates that the "anti prop 87 ads" "cause global warming and war?" If I recall correctly from the history classes I have taken at the world-renowned University of California, there tends to be a multitude of "causes" for any one event which must be discovered through extensive research and analysis. There is never a simple explanation to the causation of an event.
What exactly, if anything are YOU doing to promote environmental sustainability? Have you ever ridden in a car, in a plane, on a train or even a bus? If so, then we should all be examining our own practices of energy conservation and cease this "blame game" which is quite trivial and prefatory, requiring little to no effort. It is much easier to complain and blame than it is to actually put forth a viable solution.
I believe that we all should take the initiative and help sustain the environment in whatever ways we possibly can; the images in the video are absolutely disheartening. However, boycotting one specific company will do nothing... consumers will merely go to other gasoline stations to buy their fuel. Have you done any research at all about Chevron's competitors? Who is to say that they are incapable of making mistakes as well?
This very short and very subjective video does not highlight Chevron's highly accredited campaign of Corporate Responsibility. In 2006 alone Chevron was responsible for spending $91 million on community engagement initiatives and has invested upwards of $2 billion in alternative fuel research. Don't believe me? Just check the facts.
Therefore, this video is extremely misleading and non-representative of the company's holistic operational excellence. It saddens me to know that people like you are so quick to make inferences about those whom you have never met or know nothing about. You should do your homework next time and be sure that you are able to present valid points of view which are supported by substantial and veracious evidence. Nice try though :)
I have met many of the indigenous Ecuadorians who have been devastated by the hundreds of open toxic waste pits left in large part by Texaco that surround their villages. Many of them have cancer. Their lives have been completely ruined. They come to my hometown in San Ramon, CA to speak at the shareholders meetings and raise awareness.
