Snakes is special, it have it´s own meaning. This picture is... I can look at it for hours.
Is amazing that he completed this one and then die, I readed somewhere a letter for a friend from Escher, where he says he can´t sleep at night because he have fear to die before completing this one.
I always wanted to know how he made those. That was nice to see it happening. The Snakes work is especially impressive; hard to believe he first drew and then carved such detail on blocks of wood.
