  • Even though forward stick isn't required, I see he is putting the canard down. Is there any demonstration of holding the stick back or neutral through the stall to show how it recovers on its own?

  • @erinlassley Although it's not really a canard since it is aerodynamically neutral and isn't a lifting force when flying, it will have that auto-recover effect. This is the only video online of a Pterodactyl's canard stalling, but once mine is finished, I will post a more detailed "stall" video.

  • @dovesmagic Thanks for the correction. It's funny that almost every time I made a model airplane from scratch when I was younger, it flew better upside down and backwards than any other way. The control surface out front isn't a bad idea at all and is quite safe.

  • @erinlassley I call it a canard as well. People don't know what I'm talking about otherwise.

  • That really shows the romance of flying!

  • Wonderful! I'm a hang glider pilot who still hasn't lost his obsession with ultralights, which started when I was a kid in the 1980s. The Pterodactyl was one of my favorites to watch, along with the Kasperwing, and those modified Easy Riser biplanes.... Congratulations on living your dream.

  • @sbrian2 Thanks! The Dac would be perfect for you since it's essentially a Manta hang glider with an engine. I want to try flying an Easy Riser one of these days as well. That's another cool design.

  • More please!

  • @winsor68 You've got it!
