you can do this without removing the bowl, the jets are accessible when you remove the drain plug. i did the same mod, romoved the spark arrester and air flow restrictor and whent to a 140 jet and baught a hiflow air filter. works a treat. much more mid to high aend power ;)

Step 9: should the middle screw be different? the right and left are phillips head but I don't know what to undo middle one with. Or where to find short enough screw drivers!

Thanks from the U.S. Made it easier for me to get mine done by seeing what I was getting into prior. I ended up going with a 50 pilot and a 135 main. I live at sea level. Bike used to be a bitch to kick cold, but now cranks up after like 2 kicks!!!

Hey my xr is verrry hard 2 start cold, doesnt want choke or throttle takes ALOT of kicks.. so jst wondrin was ur bike the same like this? and the solution maybe rejetting?

Yes, I re-jetted the bike at the same time I did the mods and it kicked fine. You also need to find the sweet spot with your bike. For me it was full choke for like 3 kicks, then half choke until it started.
