I'm very new to playing the PSG and there are some scarily good players out there but Terry Crisp is my favourite. Not least of all because he comes across as a genuinely nice guy.
Terry is my cousin too and yet I have only gotten to jam with him and his wife 2 times. We always play highway 40 blues. We don't see each other often because I live in KY.
I don't live to far from Morton, so if anybody out there knows where there are some country jams to sit in play , please drop me a line. I play guitar and mandolin, and love playing this type of country music.
Hey guys; you are all doing a great job on this fine old standard. . You boys are mighty fine steel pickers; send us some more..thanks for sharing with us..Bernie
Terry Crisp has the best tone from any Pedal Steel guitar that I have ever heard. just take a listen to him playing on the Joe Nichols album. He is doing Gene Watson's farewell party. It was originally played by Lloyd Green which was great, but Terry topped the original with his smooth tone and excellent modulation to the F#. Best I have ever heard!
I know John personally, he's an awesome picker and a heck of a nice guy, I've heard him play many times around here locally in south central Illinois and played rythym with him a couple times. I thank him for making me a video tape and sending it to me for my first lesson.
Terry just put on one heck of a performance that day...I was very honored to get to take the stage with him on this one, even though hes my uncle...GREAT picker!!
I have known john sawyer for 30 some odd years..glad to see he is starting to get the recognition he deserves..guess those few thousand hours of ray price records have paid off..might see u in st louis bub!
From left on steel guitars: John Sawyer, Terry Crisp and Brett Crisp...Mike Webb on Electric guitar, Tim Harr on Rhythm guitar, Bob Boell on drums and Russ Wevewr on electric bass. Was a fun day!!
Sounds like your giving pretty good lessons , your old bus driver. GARY
