  • was also woundering sence its 4x4. does it got a solid front axle or is it independent?

  • @zeros5262 Im sure its independent but I sold the truck over a year ago to buy a bigger GMC so I dont really know

  • lmao! i was looking at this cuz i might have 2 replace the head and gasket on my step dads B2000.

  • great video dude, nicely explained, great to see people working on their cars, who actually document what they do.

  • @Karburatorix Thanks man it was half a selfish endeavor, wanted to make sure I had a record of how it all went back together haha

  • What a fantastic video! My 1995 Mustang LX just blew a head gasket. Instead of getting it fixed, I just bought a new car :) Let me tell you, it's not because I am rich...far from it. It was long overdue that I had a new vehicle. Anyway, one of my co-workers might delve into this repair and try and fix it ourselves. Since I know pretty much ZERO about cars, this would be a fantastic job to learn. Thanks again!

  • @RoC1909 Good luc man as you can see, the repair really isnt that difficult

  • WAY better than expertvillage. Great video!

  • @madwonderland Lol thanks yeah one thing I dont like about expertvilliage is you gotta watcha million videos to get thru the thing. They are a lot more professional than I am tho...they teach me stuff too

  • this guys skilled and doing a great job, But i hate japanese enginnering. throttle body off to remove rocker cover etc. etc etc

  • @paulhunter123 Yeah, but there was a lot about the engineering of this truck which made it easier to do the job. I could remove both manifolds and just slide them out of the way, rather than have to unhook everything and depressurize the fuel system. Also everything was really accessible, a lot easier to work on than my old Ranger. I agree that Japanese vehicles can be more complicated, but this one was about as simple as it gets... kinda like my current truck a GMC 4.3L.

  • lol @ 11:27 ...By the way, I am new to engines and many things like this (but a computer scientist :P), but I recently did my first repair job on something I knew nothing about on my 1988 Mazda B2200... The original timing belt snapped apart. The engine is all original & 145k miles. Its had an oil leak on the front main seal for 20 years. Lifter tick, & Carb is shit... The rocker-arm for my engine was apparently recalled. Hopefully I learn quick from your vids! I am gonna do it myself! Thanks :)

  • @TheGreatBunghole16 Sounds like you got yourself a pretty good project there

  • funny how thats engine looks like a toyota r-22 engine

  • GOOD VID

  • i thought it was going to be some simple stuff but damn thats alot of sh*t u doing. ima see if i can get someone to do it instead hahaha

  • Sometimes they split between the valves .

  • forget about it!

  • Good job on the head change. I was wondering where you got your remaned head from on ebay? Was it just a single item or was it a shop. My 87 Bronco II is burning coolant and leaking slowly into the oil.

  • @guurak Thanks, I just searched for it on ebay and found some guy selling reman heads for pretty cheap. I dont recall his details tho

  • @mrmaxstorey Ok man. Thanks for the response.

  • would that cause overheating cause i have an 87 b2000 and its overheating im not sure what it is thanks great video

  • @209kamikaze Yes this truck was overheating a lot, it was bubbling in the radiator while running, and blowing steam out of the tailpipe especially on startup

  • nice! why did it blow in the first placeÉ

  • @canadacatalyst Previous owner neglected coolant maintenance, overheated the engine and blew it, sold it to me in that condition

  • would it be similar for a 92 toyota previa and a 95 integra?

  • @tisonlythree Honestly Ive never worked on those cars so I can't say for sure, but I bet a lot of the concepts are the same

  • @mrmaxstorey ok thanks!

  • would it be any easier to do a head gasket on a 92 b2200 thats gotta carb?

  • @DMOBOG95 About the same

  • thanks man, i got it off finally. i thought it was going to be real bad cause it blew up while my girlfriend was driving so i didnt know how long it was running hot for lol. but the head is totally flat! getting it tested anyway though, thanks for the info

  • @meghoward25 Good idea, hopefully not too much damage was caused

  • hey man, great video. I have a problem though, first of all i didnt do anything to the distributer when i was turning the crank(brain fart) is that going to mess me up? also i cannot find the TDC mark on the drive pulley. does that mark line up with the "T" or one of the "6"s? is the mark a small traingular arrow? any help would be great. thanks

  • @meghoward25 Its really just important to line up the dist when you put it all back together, I cover that in the last video of the series. Also to find TDC, if you cant find the pully marks turn the motor so the rotor points to the #1 cylinder, and stick a pencil down the #1 spark plug hole and make sure the cylinder is all the way up

  • After watching this video, im not alone after all, lol. Everything that was going on this vehicle was the SAME with mine. Great vid man.

  • @forzafreak Thanks man, its a pretty common problem on these trucks. Not too bad of a repair tho.

  • change the head bolts with a stud kit

  • @robotexual Haha yeah that was ridiculous

  • Dude thank you sooooo much for this video keep it up maan your helping out a lot of ppl. thaks...

  • @lionvibe270 No prob man good luck on your rebuild.

  • well done

  • were the front 2 head bolts tigtened to 60 too or were they less?

  • @xXOutbackFordBoysX Less they were 35 I believe but your manual should tell you

  • @mrmaxstorey oh um scratch that there um like 17 to 19 and i broke one off at 21 so know i get to have the fun of drilling a hole in it to put in an easy out to get it out cause i already had my head torqued down :(

  • @xXOutbackFordBoysX Bummer man but they definitely should not have broken at 21, that is almost nothing, sounds like those bolts were in bad shape already. See if you can grab the bolts witha vice grip like I did in my video, mine broke off too on removal

  • @mrmaxstorey yeah i didnt have my head torqued down all the way so i had to take my head off again anyway :( but i should be getting it started very soon

  • @xXOutbackFordBoysX Good luck man seems like this project has been dragging on for you. Did you get that tensioner sorted out?

  • @mrmaxstorey yeah i did its all put back together now and i tried to start it today and my battier was dead and wouldnt take a charge so i have to get a new one :(

  • @xXOutbackFordBoysX Charge it up and let me know what happens!

  • ok scratch that last comment i guess i didnt have water there yet it must all be in the radiator:)

  • ok how did u drain ur radiator cause my hose comes out on the other side and i have a gard in the way????

  • @xXOutbackFordBoysX Yeah mine is the same way, you just gotta get in there and unhook it. It took me a little while at first, I think I had to remove my skid plate, but once I got it that was it. There should also be a drain plug on the bottom of your radiator. There isn't any special trick to doing this, you just gotta roll up your sleeves and do it.

  • no like were was the bolt for it

  • @xXOutbackFordBoysX There are 4 small nuts holding it onto the fan clutch

  • how did u remove the fan?

  • @xXOutbackFordBoysX 10mm wrench and a rubber mallet
