  • Yes, make sure you clean the bush...

  • this is for the idiots who say i dougt an old man can lift 50 pounds so easy....do you realise that people used to actually work hard for a living and did everything by hand...50 pounds is heavy when you compare it to a joystick...think before speaking idiots

  • It is troy ounces. The nugget was found in 1980 and now resides in the USA. However, there is news of a quartz specimen containing 76 oz of gold found very recently near Ballarat in the Victorian goldfields.

  • OR 73 pounds if he's Talking TROY OUNCES !!

  • 876 ounces of Gold is 54.75 Pounds, I doubt that old fellow hefted 54.75 pounds of Gold quite that easily,,, but Good Try !!

  • def a replica he wouldnt be able to hold that amount of gold/ thats about 100 pounds of gold

  • As mentioned in a previous post, this is a replica of the nugget - it was found in 1980 and was sold at the time. Google 'Hand of Faith' to read all about it.

  • :50 I'm raising the bullshit flag! It's a piece of wood sprayed gold. 876 oz weighs nearly 55 pounds. Go to the gym, take a 55lb dumbbell, pick it up, and start talking. Don't arch your back- don't stop talking- don't constrict your words OR your muscles and then shift your lower hand and don't let the weight drop at all.... and make sure the weight is at least shoulder height.

  • It's funny when you hear millionares say it wasn't about the money it was just fun.

  • This is the Hand of Faith nugget found in the Central Victorian goldfields. The same goldfields that produced the Welcome Stranger in the 1850's. This monster nugget was almost 2300 oz. Victoria is simply the best shallow nugget field in the world.

  • 876 oz X 1700 = ?

  • @IdolHans almost 1.5 million.....

  • 876 oz? Holy Shit!

  • @skeezysquirrel That's a championship throphy!

  • 876 oz....omfg...

  • The people in this video seem to be very friendly and pro-mining.

  • @SWMMI Hi, we enjoy getting outdoors, care for the environment and promote responsible behavior. 'Pro-mining' would be stretching the point and counter-productive to our enjoyment of the great outdoors.

  • Comment removed

  • However, inside every prospector is a miner trying to escape. The Mother Lode is still everyone's dream!

  • 7:47 that guy looks like jack hoffman

  • cleaning the bush from rubbish!!! bahahahahahahahahaha

  • @sharpshooternick Hi, we are not a large organisation but in our own small way, whilst metal detecting, we come across a large number of heavy metals. Often these are lead pellets from shot guns but frequently lead and mercury amalgam from old-time mining activities.

There is no easy way to remove these contaminants from the environment.

Our gold detecting activities have as a side benefit, the removal these heavy metals from the soil that prevents their further leaching into the environment.

  • @GeoffLee256 yes you guys are doing a great job it looks like a lot of fun and you can make some money along with saving the enviroment keep it up

  • @GeoffLee256 I think sharp was making a perverted joke.

  • @GeoffLee256 Those heavy metals CAME from the environment...

  • respect the bush! dont damage it damn it ! thats a hairy beaver lmfao

  • Kevin is holding a replica of the nugget which doesn't weight 876 oz. He sold the actual nugget to the Golden Nugget casino in Las Vegas where it remains on display.

  • @RitaPMAV That makes sense. Thanks

  • OK it really looks a little too easy how he picks up that weight, especially if you know what 60pounds / 30 kg feel like. So I had to do a little reenactment with my 30 kg dumb-bells. It´s quiet hard at first, but if you hold it closer to your body it gets easier! And when you look at the guy now, you realize that he is actually also holding the weight much closer to his body as it appears. Also he should have some practice lifting his "Hand of Faith" for cameras.

  • 876 troy ounces = 27.243 kg; A bag of wholesale brown onions weighs 20kg and you need two arms to lift it onto the shelf and it's near impossible to hold it at a 45 degree angle cause your bottom arm won't take the weight. From the way he's shaking it, it looks like 5 kg = 155.5 troy ounces of nugget (might even be hollow inside or other materials).

  • 876 0unces is almost 60 pounds, It looks like that guy picked that chunk of gold up pretty easy to me. Can you explain that.

  • Great job Geoff, now people can actually get an understanding of what prospectors do....

  • Onya PMAV >>>>> Simply every Vic prospector should be a member

  • very interesting video :-)
