I remember that I had a distinct feeling of wanting the game to end as soon as possible. I don't like to leave a game unfinished and I like to know how a story ends and... the ending was disappointing. It was just... a real slog.

Sloppy is correct. I remember getting lost several times, falling off the second floor of an area and being stuck on the first floor because of it, dieing because in one part, counter intuitively, you're supposed to just ignore everything around you, enemies, ships, people, items, and just run to your destination. The story was... not very gripping, I rolled my eyes at the "glorious humans" part. And the main character's brother and fiance, after playing the whole game, feel tacked on. Continued

The first time I played this game I was blown away, I agree you do get overpowered after you start to gain the super mind powers but still. Slick presentation, great story and original. 1) i have only seen the frame rate drop low once.

3)the targeting isnt an issue if you change the settings to you liking.

6)the game is easy cause you make it easy! i can make any fps game easy by sitting back and picking off the enemies from afar but i choose to try and go Rambo with a pistol cause its more fun that way...less easy but fun

7)switching weapons and powers is much better then pausing the game and picking it cause it doesn't slow down the action. its not like its hard to switch after playing for an hour you can easily pick a weapon/power in half a second

I think the problem is Consoles. I have read that in Xbox it was plugged with bugs. which in consoles is a big problem. Things are more linear and people just want to go has they are hoping.

I played on PC and think this is an awsome game and I'm frustrated that the makers don't have the IP of it. Instead it is still on Majesco's which is all most bankrupt.

By the way it has the best OST on video game. It is even better than most movies.

just finished the game on pc. amazing story, terrific music, a few bugs here and there but nothing special, gameplay on pc is good and feels intuitive, except the mousewheel function -but where else to assign autolock changing-? last appeal is very very good. one of the games i'll remember for some time. certainly not halo-alike. can also replay it cause there is a lot of content to play again, like different weapon combinations, tactics etc. reviews like this deprived the sequels from us.....

This reviewer is terrible. Advent rising gameplay was fun some of his complaints are rather subjective like mentioning lift.

You don't have to use lift. Why is it that people will abuse a specific mechanic and then rant on about how the game isn't challenging? How about using the other powers (a lot of them are based on space-time displacement) something that hasn't been done.

It's people like this that kill creativity in the game industry. And Advent wasn't even trying to be like Halo.

This guy is an absolute idiot. Advent Rising was a great game with a science fiction story better than most movies or sci-fi literature can develop with a score that destroys Halo's with ease. And the telekinetic powers were what made the combat so great. Obviously, this guy is just a gamer and not a fan of story, score, and the ability to destroy an entire room with a single telekinetic push. IGN's review is a far more realistic review. I say, time for Advent 2 and 3.

I've looked closer at other reviews of his and my conclusion was that Alex sucks <.<

This game is an excellent example:

-You can set the game to pause when you switch weapons in the options menu.

-You can change the sensitivity for the lock-on, so you WON'T target an enemy when you're trying to run away.

-The Warthog and this game's vehicle are both based on an actual military vehicle design.

-The aliens are based on a standard set by the Alien movies.

-Lifting and shooting is HIS choice

Maybe you had a bad disc, because mine worked fine. I know the game had some technical issues like framerate, but it still had a great setting, good music, an epic scope, and cool combat. In comparison, Mass Effect also has terrible framerate issues (on a next gen system no less), it has weak combat and clunky biotic powers and buggy A.I., yet it is universally praised. Obviously, being a high profile developer like Bioware has its perks.
