  • I have a nokia 5130 express music in red . I love it! what I don't like is the fact that tmobile here in the states doesn't allow third party apps so you can't get opera mini and have to use their crappy browser.

  • @pastel86z I didn't know that. That does indeed suck.

  • hb xeDNHRFQAFSWJLbadcbpah ASUCB;SBVSHV x"ljv

  • Hey Aeric, I was just wondering how the service (cell phone) is there in Germany. I am planning on moving there in the future and was wondering what you think is the best plan/company to go with. Are there any fees that the U.S. doesn't already have? I know that phone service is expensive in Germany from when I lived there last. Thx and Tchüss.

  • It *is* expensive. Calling a landline from a cell phone is usually more expensive than calling another cell. Also roaming can kill you. (Using your cell phone outside your own country.)

T-Mobile probably has the best network, but for a good plan and prices I'd choose E-Plus. There are a ton of small subcontractors that offer great prices, but I do not know my way around those at all.

  • his private phone took a while to turn on too so...

  • he shouldnt make such a big deal about it, cell phones are headache makers. if anyone agrees with me, plus me. my phone gives me a headache, i am only on it for like 6 min. to talk. i mostly text.

  • What a hell with this guy? does he know that mobile works with an OS? that´s why he has to wait to the interface runs... Idiot!

  • WTF is with this commentator? Even if he doesn't know one can address people on YouTube directly, he should know that the other phone has its own OS yet still fires up more quickly.

  • I take it you have never tried a Blackberry? seriously... wait you know what i think i will make a video for you!!! Wait Hold up!!!

  • I am sceptical about Blackberrys. They're too much like those electronics shackles they use for prisoners. I really don't need to be reachable all the time.

However, I am always open to suggestions. Convince me.

  • WOW Does It REALLY Matter How Long It Takes For A Phone To Turn On Or Off

  • It can mean the difference between life and death!

  • Well Thats Pretty Fuckin Stupid

Just Leave Your Phone On All The Time Then

    FUCKIN STUPID

  • I fly a lot.

If you don't spot the relevance, please refrain from asking me about it.

  • i dont think it was a question..

    WAKE UP,

    [exclamation mark]

  • all nokia series 60 phones(S60) are slow to boot...but my nokia 5300(S40) takes like 5 seconds :)

  • So does my new trusty 6500 classic. ^^

  • lol...just buy a S40 Nokia and u shud be fine :)...theyre way faster and very animated and stuff...i like them more

  • You think this is hell? I'm a Linux user and there is Windows on my mobile. And T-mobile. *sigh*

  • Let me guess.

    Synchronisation is proving somewhat difficult.

  • Why would you want to turn off your cellphone anyway? I think that the keyboard of the N73 is pretty annoying though and the Nokia/Symbian OS on it is terrible.

  • I don't want it waking me up in the middle of the night and there's really no use to waste the energy if I don't use it.

But I am starting to see that I am in the absolute minority in that regard. LoL

    Was für die Wochenenden. (c;

  • i love my nokia 5300 sadly with t-mobile tho but if you debrand the phone is real awsome

i dont hate t-mobile since there cheap, and ive got REAL internet (opera mini) with just the tzones lol

  • Interesting. How do you debrand a phone?

  • Well, I'm no expert on your model. Try Nokia customer service. I've talked to them before, they were quite helpful.

  • I imagine that can be slightly embarassing at times.

  • It is a Nokia N73.

I am not certain what you mean about rebooting your phone, but if you have a problem that cannot be solved by turning it off and on again, I'd suggest removing the battery for five minutes.

  • You flashed a smile.

    Admit it.

  • I HAVE SO MUCH PROBLEMS WITH CELLPHONES..

great music ! who sings that !

  • Madonna.

What kind of problems have you had?

  • If you are being chased by a psychotic mass murdering madman i hope you have your black phone with you to call the cops.

  • Who knows how many deaths this phone has already caused?

  • *sniff sniff* I smell anti-Nokia sentiment.. and perhaps a smaller one for T-mobile as well!

  • Your sense of smell is batting 1 for 2.

I am actually a big fan of Nokia phones and the overwhelming majority of mobiles I've ever used were Nokia. I 'm just not too fond of this one.

As for T-Mobile... words cannot convey the meaning of how much I despise the entire company.

  • i like my nokia n73 i realllly like it u can skip the sound that comes in the start by pressing any button.

  • You're right, of course. But why should I need to? If I don't want to see it, why is there no option for me to generally deactivate it?

Also, overall, the phone is actually pretty good (well, except for the tiny keys). I just don't think it's an ideal phone for work. LoL

  • lol, my phone takes a while to boot up too (and has the nokia thing) but it doesn't bother me cause I rarely turn it off.

LOL, reduced to taking photos of yourself and your webcam because Liv isn't around!

  • Kick me while I'm down, why don't you? LoL

Actually, Liv stayed with me for the past two weeks, which was nice and also the reason I was online so rarely. Too bad she had to leave again. ...)c.:

Also, it would appear that I am the only person on this planet who shuts his phone off every day. Ah well, Nokia know their users better than I do.

  • OMG I know...I have one of those Nokia Nseries phones and it takes forever to load. It's kind of slow too : (

  • Yeah, it IS kind of slow in its functions. It must cost a fortune, though... what's up with that?

  • I'll do my very best.

  • theh white phone looks chik however it's true, the keys are way too small , unless you want to dial with a pen lol. it maybe takes long to load because it downloads data from the network

  • I doubt it. When I hold it next to a speaker, the cracking noises are after I enter the PIN.

  • I never complained about it, though I think the newer version wasn't an improvement, by Kahless!

  • LoL

  • I have opinions about work phones...mainly that I'm the type of person who thinks that when you get home from work, you should be home from work. You wouldn't bring your laundry to fold at work, so why bring work home while you fold your laundry?

  • Hahaha, Emms. Cute analogy and fair point.

I am actually very strict in my work phone use. I turn it on when I'm on the underground on my way to the office and turn it off when I leave the office. (And after reading these comments, I seem to be the only human being to turn his cell phones off on a daily basis).

  • Often enough, I am busy for work although I am not in the office. They are sending me all over the place. To avoid making business calls on my own bill and having to give out my private number, I was provided with a cell phone by my employer.

Well, primarily. Let's hope they don't mind me using it for YouTube videos, heh.

  • What we need is a subspace network. That will solve everything like if you want to talk to someone, just dial it up, then walk through to pop up out of a blackhole next to this person, showing your head only. :P Just imagine the potential! -shugs- -Josh

  • Dood, I am in logistics. That network would put me out of work!

(Which is why I was forced to surpress the technology for the time being. Sowwy.)

  • xD Hyperspace drive system perhaps?

  • I guess it just comes down to which has the better ring tone.

  • But the ringtones can be customised on both phones. Hmmm, no diff there.

  • Mobile phones suck the lifeforce out of you: I just wish more people knew that.

  • i have nokia 6020 =) it also takes a while to boot but i'm relativly patient so it doesn't matter, my mommy has a nokia too the 6080 and we are also both t-mobile victims sooo i can really relate to you LOL =)

  • Patience? I have never even heard of that word.

What does it mean? Is that gaelic?

  • the cams of mobile phones can be better than some digital cameras .. even in additional functions .. its crazy :P

i especialy dont like small phones .. and phones which dont focus on "calls" as main function.

because of that i still use a partly broken one .. still better than the new shit :P

  • I know, some of those new age phones barely go from your ear to the middle of your cheek.

How can you expect to have a decent conversation with those, dare I call them, micro-phones? Heh.

  • mirco-phones .. yea, thats it. i feel like my hand will cramp when i try to hold one of those, it always makes me angry.

a friend told me about a feature-joke once. a walkman-mobile not capable of using mp3s as ring tone. another example of how idiotic the industry is.

  • I bet it's a bestseller. LoL

  • I haven't seen you in forever either!

  • Dagmar, it's totally cool.

I know exactly how that can be. In any case, we'll be looking forward to anything you'll have time to release and wait with bated breath until such a time comes. *g*

  • I'll just pretend I didn't.

    Qapla'!

  • Not this one. The socket is smaller than for regular chargers.

Also, I have a PIN on my pay-as-you-go phone. That's rather unusual, isn't it?

  • You mean it slowly dies? LoL

  • Yes, but this was six years ago.

    We've come a long way, haven't we?

  • Before I read the comments on this video, I thought it was...

  • I also doubt it will prolong your cell phone's life. LoL

  • You can't like press the end button and have it to stop with that screen? :(

What kind of phone is that? The work phone, that is..

  • Well, I can.

But sometimes I forget to press it in time and I wanted to show you what happens then.

  • Do you know what model that is? It's kinda cute :P

  • Yeah, it's a Nokia N73.

Despite all my ranting, the 3.2 Megapixel camera is actually quite decent, especially teh video function.

  • waw, I never thought someone would actually complain about one of the best nokia phones on the market... This is called spoiled beyond reality...

You got a $600 phone.. be happy.

  • Money can't buy me love.

And I love my cheap-o 25 EUR phone much much more.

  • Well if phones define love, to you, then you're in bigger trouble than I thought.

  • change the handphone then or change the simcard then

  • I can't. It's my cell phone from work.

  • oooookay whatever.lol LUV YA peace no war!

  • (c;

  • My cell phone is the Audiovox put out by Virgin Mobile. I love it because it's a flip and is just fine for simple calling and txting. My only problem with the Virgin Mobile phones is that the battery life seems so short to me.

  • That's odd.

Branding shouldn't have any influence on a phone's power supply.

  • I kind of like your cell phone, but I will go for something simple next time. My last three cell phones didn't last very long. The first one was run over by a car, the second one was stolen and the last one drowned, so I usually end up having a cheap and ugly cell phone anyway. I'm cursed! :o)

  • Heh, I'm the same way with sunglasses. It never made sense to spend a lot of money on them since I could be sure to wreck/lose/ruin them in record time, anyway.

  • I have to hold my power button about 10 sec just to get it to turn on.

  • OMW!

  • will you send the picture you just took of us? that would be great... thanks.

  • I would, but I bet you were youtubing naked again, Jen.

    That one I'm keeping. (c;

  • *gasp* don't tell anyone!

  • "Its worst that what a multimedia startship enterprise booting up" Haha.

  • I stashed my personal phone when I got my work one. I have to keep it on all the time - and basically - it is my security blanket object. without it I am lost.

  • I barely use the phone!! It's funny, I only need text and calling, so I just get the free phone that they give you and I'm satisfied. When that camera breaks, I switch services to get a new free phone. ha!

  • Clever. Very clever.

  • I love my phone! I can watch YT vids or other internet webbies, e-mail, SMS, MMS, MSN, ICQ, listen to the radio or mp3 files, watch movies, make photo's or movies [3.2MP] and make phonecalls ;P

    [Sony Ericsson K800i]

  • Vicky just recommended the same one.

  • hey A... man, if you dont like ur phone just send it to me and I will happily exchange it for my crappy one. It has all da basic functions u need and I could also offer sth. thats like monochrome, if u hate colors, too ?!?! deal ?!? hahaha..

  • oh monochrome screen ... this must be pretty expensive now as it is antique ;o)

  • man, i swear... NOTHING is too expensive for me when it comes to aeric winter !! hehehe ... :-)

  • hehehehe, it's a bargain for him then ... how can he still resist? ^^

  • Oh, a wiseguy, eh? But does the battery last for four days straight?

  • nono, it lasts for 6 days, is that a problem ?? hehehe...

  • Ouh, i love my phone! It's pink and shiny! :D

  • Please tell me it's not a Hello Kitty one that you picked up in Japan.

  • Wow, that thing actually has a flash? That is a pretty flashy phone. (Terrible pun, I know.) I actually wanted to show the 'Tube my phone, and this gives me a chance! Expect a video response soon.

  • That's the only thing flashy about it.

Will be looking forward to your video, Nick!

  • My Samsung Sync takes a while to boot up too. Best wishes in your new place!

  • is the chair behind you meant to look like a Scotish flag?

  • Yes it is. The flag came in the package Aileen sent me two weeks ago.

It's a Saint Andreas cross, so it suits me quite nicely.

  • i actually thought that the simple one was yours and the nokia crazy one was work.. so i was right :P

my friend has one of those phones, he loves it though.

my phone is very simple and old. it's a samsung SGH-X426. i like it for what you ilke your phone for: you make calls, and you send txt msgs. i don't need anything else!

  • I like your attitude!

  • Those cell phones look unusually large for modern cell phones, sorta like the ones that came out in the 90s. Everyone I know has compact ones that you flip open/close.

  • Clamshell design doesn't make the phone more compact. Razr is larger width and height-wise than N95 when it's closed (N95 is around 1cm thicker though:). Most brick design Nokias are smaller than most clamshell phones.

  • Clamshells used to be popular here, but they've gone out of style a while ago.

The trend is currently jam-packed, multimedia brick phones.

  • uh, nokia, schleichwerbung ;)

man, but you seem kinda tired!

well about my cellphone... it's really old, as i'm rather the computer-person and not so much a cellphone-person. so i'm talking about a siemens A50. and it's a real cunning monster, it is! it pretends to be ready after about no time, but then it needs aaaages for loading text messages and stuff. if you wait about a minute or so, it will be fine, but at the beginning it's slooooow....

  • I WAS tired. It was the end of a long day and my phoen was annoying me. Others may just shrug, turn it off, or smash it. Me, I make a YouTube video. The Siemens A50 is a good phone. My private one is an A30, and I am very happy with it.

  • Maybe you can go to the phone options section thing and put that t-mobile thing of. I can do it with my cellphone. but it still takes 11 seconds till my vode screen appears. :(

  • I've looked. So far, I haven't found that function. *grumbles*

  • I have an old mobile phone as well. i love it because it's simple and so big that i know no one will ever try to steal it.

  • the worst is that most european phones have pin numbers in europe? what's up with that? that's by far the dumbest, annoying, and most useless thing. if someone finds your phone it's most likely still on and they can call. and then the puk number that if you get it wrong 3 times you actually puke because your phone is garbage.

  • Then don't get it wrong. LoL

The PIN is more of a long-term protection. Chances are, if someone picks up your phone and starts using it, they won't get a chrager in time until the battery dies. And without the PIN, they'll never be able to turn it back on. See? It's actually very useful.

  • but then if the battery runs out how do they contact you to give you your phone back? huh? how?

  • Ah, now you're just pretending to have some faith in humanity. (c;

  • (((Dagmar))) I haven't see you in... well, forever! How are you, girl?

And how is your Blackberry? Is that a useful phone to have? Those buttons look so tiny and there are so many of them and the menu seems kinda basic, but I've never actually used one.

  • I suppose it's booting Windows in the background.

  • As well as establishing a direct connection to Redmond so they can monitor my phoning behaviour, right? (c;

  • You mean you need to reboot because it freezes every 6-8 weeks?

Well, I don't take my work phone with me in my free time so I don't need to worry about it in the movie theatre and I DO skip the annoying intro by pressing any key. It's still a pointless feature, though.

Why does Nokia have to do that?

  • Oh, and I have to say, the new place really looks great! I liked the lil' tablecloth you had there:)

  • Why, thank you. I'm starting to discover my domestic side here.

  • I have a Verizon cell phone. I only get service on top of park benches and skyscrapers:P

And I died of laughter seeing my face pop up. I def. was NOT expecting that. Lol!

  • Hahaha, just the effect I was hoping for. Actually, this is how it was:

After filming and editing this video, I had to think of myself "how random". And then, unbidden, this scene from your video came into my mind. I just totally had to insert it here.

  • I sent you a text message to ask for your permission to use it, but I guess you weren't standing on any skyscrapers or park benches that day. *g*

  • Awe, I don't care what you use of my online stuff. If I make it public, it's for public usage:) (and you did a very swell job at crediting your source too, I might add) :P *S*

  • OMW, I'm trying to remember the last time I read the word "swell" before this comment. (c;

  • Hey, I prefer Old English! It's so much more eloquent:)

  • And ye olde English doth suit thee well.

  • Thank ye kindly, good sir;)

  • It does, but I don't use them.

And that is a problem with a great many devices these days. You pay more money for a lot of functions that you neither understand nor require.

What use is an mp3-player in my phone if the quality is far inferior to the iPod Nano I already have and use anyway?

  • Dam, that did take a while go boot up. My phone takes about 15 seconds to boot which is why I usually never turn it off.

  • I hear that a lot.

  • I never turn my phone off, eve when I charging I leave it on. What I hate is when it beep me when I have ignored it ringing and I have to find it and turn the beep off ughew!

I love you new BIG place:)

  • Thanks! Ugh, I still owe you that tour, huh?

Anyway, I turn my professional phone off when I leave work. I also turn my private phone off at night. If someone needs to contact me desperately, they will have my landline number. So if don't use it, why waste the energy, right? ^^

  • OMG--did I really post that with all the spelling errors----I'll never admit I'm a retired teacher---*grin*

  • I lost my phone last weekend. But it was an old one - so Now I have just cause to go and treat myself to something that has a camera in it too :)

But i hate all the choices - brand/provider/plans etc - I like you want it simple - but I would like a few extras like good camera, can play multimedia files - and oh i don't know perhaps GPS? :S

  • I know exactly what you mean.

The sheer volume of data us cell phone users are bombarded with is mindboggling. Good luck!

  • As for losing your phone, I am glad you are taking it so lightly.

I remember a fellow student in England posting notes all over campus asking for his stolen phone's sim-card back. I quote "you can keep the phone, but please, I need that card's address book. I've lost all my friends' numbers. I can't even call my mum!"

Ah, the tragedy behind these phone losses is often overlooked.

  • So, all I can say: branded cell phones: Oh the horror! Mine is from vodafone, which I believe is the "kleinere Übel", but still annoying (and with those stickers on it... yuk, I hate it)

The N73 was fun, but sooo extremely slow, and it froze all the time. So if you need a cell phone that takes good pictures, go with the k800i. It's also almost as fast as "normal" cell phones.

  • All branding is evil, but ah well... it is often down for company phones.

You're right, the N73 IS slow. Hmm, I think I'll keep an eye open for your k800i in case I need a new private mobile phone. I'm still no fan of all that "Multimedia Quatsch".

  • I know, me either. But a nice camera can come pretty handy (*squeeee* a pun!!) sometimes^^

  • That stupid Nokia N73!!! I have that, too, and just recently "upgraded" to the much faster Sony Ericsson k800i - Okok, I'll watch the rest now

  • Hahaha, I love it when you shoot comments from the hip.

  • Andreas, I would make a video response to this, but alas I am currently using... (The horror!) a land line. I am sure you remember when these things werent necessary... and I still sort of view them like that.

  • I looooooove land lines.

And even more, I looooooove phones that have an actual cord. I can talk for hours on end on them. On a cell phone, I get uncomfortable if the phone conversation lasts longer than five minutes.

So, by all means, feel free to respond with a video employing your landline phone, BRT.

  • yeah but you don't have to turn your phone off all the time anyway! Just put it on silent or vibrate!! I never turn off my phone!!

    Make more videos!!

  • I always turn my cell phone off when I leave work. I don't take the bleeding thing with me in my free time!

However (and speaking of making more videos), I will have it with me on my business trip to Singapore next week... so I'll be able to take and share some footage from there with you guys.

    The things I do for you people. (c;

  • business trips rock :) (i think :P never been on one)

my dream job has lots of business trips *ggg*

  • Ok, it's the middle of next week---where's our video from Singapore???? ;)

  • The middle of NEXT week. LoL

  • Patience--that Gaelic word- is not one of my vitues either ;)

  • *drumming fingers* patiently waiting *fingers drumming* humming- lalalalalala?

  • Yes. Simple and functional is underrated. Just because it can have a bunch of junk, doesn't mean it should.

    Is Nokia a Finish company?

  • I believe South Korean, but I could be wrong... The website obviously shows their multinational side... with operations in Africa, The Asian-Pacific region (perhaps japanese?), Europe, Latin America, The Middle East and of course North America.

  • idk. Somebody once told me it was Finish. And I know the Finish language is in the same linguistic grouping as Japanese. The Nikon company is Finish.

  • ROFL, where did you ever learn that Finnish is in the same linguistic grouping as Japanese?

And Nikon is a Japanese company founded and based in Tokyo.

    Geesh, people.

You are supposed to prove to me that Miss Teen South Carolina is an exception and not the rule! LoL

  • No, Nokia is Finnish.

The company you are thinking of is Samsung, who is currently the third largest cell phone manufacturer.

  • Yes, they are one of Finland's most successful companies and the worldwide leading cell phone manufacturer. Don't tell me you don't use their phones in the U.S.

  • I've had a few Nokia phones, they worked well. Everyone here in the U.S. thinks they are Japanese but you're right, they are a Finnish company. And I believe they pronounce it with the accent on the 2nd syllable...

  • There is a linguistic group that includes Japanese, Mongolian, Turkish and Finish. Now these connections are disputed but the similarities are quite noticeable.

Hmm, guess I was right about Nokia and wrong about Nikon.

  • I have never heard that in my entire life. Can you send me any additional info about this linguistic group now that you've piqued my curiosity?

  • I'll see what I can dig up.

  • wie immer, toller beitrag...

(-: uebrigens beim raten habe ich auf den weissen handy, richtig getippt

  • I suppose I was a little obvious about it...

    ^^

  • I have the best possible cell phone - it gives me no problems at all. Its the null cell phone.
