I find that even green doesn't do well on thick hair without working harder on it. Dunno about blue (too wet of a look for me, durr) but pink and purple actually work best for thick hair. Grey would actually be next, but feels alot dryer afterwords. For thin hair something like this would be overkill unless used in very small quantities.

suggestion: go to an asian stylist, or spend the extra money and go to a really good salon. I find most cheap places (@$25 for mens haircut) fuck this style up, cut too short, and don't spend enough time on sheering the ends so that it pinches together neatly. Also you might want to ask for a little bit extra time, because most places will only spend like 30-45 minutes on a mens hair cut and won't really finish the job.

like I said, they fuck it up. Most standard salons have set time for mens and longer for womens, and most guys get weak ass short hairuts that look bland. You want someone that will at least spend the time making sure the overall look is good. Also, the $25 ones tend to bring my bangs up about 1/2-3/4 an inch too high.
