And as for the T45 destroyer, it will be the most advanced warship in the world, protecting thousands of Navy personell and also...490million people because in the event of a nuclear strike on the EU the chances are that this will be the ship that shoots a nuclear missile down and saves you, your familly your friends, your neigbours, your town, your city your country And yet if we didnt get these things and we were hit with a nuke you would all then be saying 'why didnt the government protect us
ok, you people obviously dont know much about how all this works at all. eg the eurofighter, do people realise that seeing as it is being sold to other countries such as saudi arabia, norway, and many other countries and many more to come, it actually MAKES money fo our country.
oh ye so modern war are just men on the ground ok so wot about logistics such as support ships aircraft carriers and to protect support ships and carriers u need t45s and troop on the ground need air cover so that needs carriers troops need transport like helicopters oh and they need carriers too that wanker know nothing of modern warfare at all if he thinks its just a bunch of men on the ground

Defence budgets are easy to point the finger at as it seems little is being got for the money which is not really the case. I would put it to you that if a some hardware prevents a solder, sailor, or airman having to be killed because it is of good design and up to date then it has paid for itself. What price do we have to put on the men and women of are armed forces?
What you seem to have overlooked is that most of the hardware that the government has invested in is predominantly produced in the uk. With that in mind the workers and sub contractors involved in the products are in the uk and are uk tax payers. It may have not come to your attention that Eurofighter Typhoon is the largest engineering project in Europe with a sizeable amount of the production being done in the uk
Suggest you read Page's book. Remembering of course, that Page was a serving Navy officer, so actually knows a lot about "hi-tech" ships etc.
As for the F15, sure, it's old now, but the Israelis bought it as recently as the late 90s. And as I understand it, upgraded with modern missiles and electronics, it can still deal with most real world situations.

The problem with buying american is that we have to get american spare parts. If a tyre bursts on an american jet then a new one comes from america if it is involved in a bird strike then the plane is down for months. Do you have any personal experience in defence?
This man seems to be a complete idiot he is obsessed with price tickets and doesn't look at the value that you get for that money and he is obviously not an military expert this man has to learn some about the subject before he starts talking nonsense like this.
The Brahmos missle can easily sink those T45.

And how can he compare cold war ships with the modern high tech ships its nothing like each other.
And buying an F-15 for a quarter of the money makes no sense because it may be 4 times cheaper but it's also like 10 times worse then the EF2000.
