  • Great vid! Really interesting to see a 2 x V12 configured boat. Very unique footage!

    Thanks for posting

  • Holy crap- the entire rudder bracket has been ripped off and a good chunk of the port side transom went with it. Either a dead head or one crazy set vibration!

  • I have learned also that the SUCH CRUST III had TWO Allison engines, hence the 4 big exhaust stacks. Evidently the added power was never enough to offset the added size and weight of the boat not to mention the added complexity of the setup.

  • The U-44 is the Zephyr Fury. It was a very thick boat and ugly one too. The kind only the owner could love.

  • Hey, thanks to that tip, I have been able to identify this as 1955! This appears to be qualifying, etc for the Gold Cup race! Such Crust III was able to be repaired in time to finish fourth overall. Gale V won without winning a single heat by having the shortest elapsed time over the total 90 miles of all the heats. A big OOOPs by Bill Muncey early in his career, driving Miss Thriftway, he eased up too much at the end of the final heat and lost overall by under 5 seconds...

  • I think the boat in the first part of the footage could be the Gale V, the winner of the Gold Cup. Please help to identify this boat!
