@BadBluesman887: Sorry for the late response. I painted it orange. All the boxes come raw & unpolished. I don't paint them much anymore especially since I got into building them for others. I am experimenting with different design options for asthetic appeal though.
@Parsa9 Yes, so far. You can get pretty close if you mess with it though. My pedal board is kind of a customized thing I put together from an SKB. The original had 8 ports for powering 8 pedals and I installed 6 more from an older SKB and did some fancy routing so all the wires won't get in the way, etc.
"Warm" is a funny word. It's totally valid, but not exactly descriptive. It sounds like the delay programs in some degradation of the repeats to roll out the bottom end and decay "dirtier." Either way--this is a nice kit.
HEY! your videos and favorites and stuff makes it seem alot like you no what your doing! can you help me? Ok so i ordered the PT-80 kit from GGG and i populated the entire circuit board. t looks great. The bypass works but when my cable is plugged in and the power is plugged in, it just produced a buzz (a tone actually, hahah B i think haha) But needless to say id rather have it work as a delay hahaha. should i buy like a signal probe or whatever?
yes..in fact i think i kinda like it for its own sound, i've actually watched this and rewinded a few times to make sure.sounds like it would be fantastic for vocals on account of the digital chips, but drifty unlike my dd-2.. i just bought the carbon copy, but i think it wouldnt be redundant to buy this one ..
@PHAEDRIDER Yes I've messed about with several PT2399 based delays. I've come back to the Carbon Copy 3 times. I find that using that chip gives it a certain digital sound that really isn't analog, it's just not crystal clear like a DD5 or similar, but it's not soft like an analog delay. If you put this side by side with a Carbon Copy you'll say oh right, I hear this cold dead thing in the echo.
There are a few ways to do it. One is to use a 12v regulator. To run it on 9v, you can put a jumper in place of the regulator. The way this one is built utilizes a charge pump (which was not available in the original design) enabling to power with 9v. You could build this without the charge pump and use a 15 - 18v power supply if desired.
Nice build! I just got done putting together an ITS8 Screamer-it came out so well. I wonder, are you running it with a small "bump up " regulator on the inside-something that would change the mentioned 9 volts to 12 or perhaps 15v? Anyway this will be my next build....
One must not demo a delay of any kind without sneaking in U2's "Where the Streets Have No Name"...
Aside from that, good job.

@jwyatt4 great demo! Thinking of building this kit.... Was the enclosure painted orange when you bought it or did you paint it yourself?

So is this the closest kit or PCB you have to a slapback echo pedal at this time? I'm interested in tape and space echo effects pedals.
Are you running several pedals off a single 9V supply? If so, how do you set that up?

Nice vid, be nice if the knobs were labelled.
BrotherDevious 1 year ago
@BrotherDevious I built this one for myself and if you look closely, you can see I carved the labels into the paint. I later put labels on it though.

Ha! Totally agree with you. It's kind of like asking a buddy, "What's the pedal sound like to you?" and he answers, "Purple."

Wow its really amazing!!! I was skeptical too but it really sounds warm and smooth and 3d!!! :D :D

what's the longest delay time on this pedal? do the trails turn off with the footswitch?
REMchout 2 years ago
I honestly can't tell you exactly on the delay time but I believe it to be within 500 -600 ms. The trails do cut off when you hit the switch.

I was slightly skeptical myself until I built it and heard it with my own ears...it's rather amazing.
