CLASSIC!!! Mannnn, i remember when this video came out. I video taped off of Rap City and still watched it every time it came on t.v. Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeewiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind!!!!
@kustomflex I remember wearing out my brother's tape just from rewinding to this song's intro over and over... when that beat comes in, it knocks SOOOOOOOO hard!!!!!!
I remember that graffiti style from the early 90's! I still think the alphabets from that time were and still are the most technical and best looking. CRAM `1
No Disrespect to LA bc I am from both LA and NYC but this is when NYC was NYC, now it seems NYC has become LA. Kind of saddens me that NYC has lost its identity. BDP True Classic!
If you want to see where krs and others got their jamaican zungazung from. listen to the yellowman song with the long Z name. yellowman actually influenced hip hop more than he gets credit for
KRS ONE is the greatest lyrical MCs ever...for 20 plus years he has been on point...he can get a little egotistical. but cant they all...he backs it up everytime...he is the true essence of HIP HOP and he does represent...even though he tries to define HIP HOP in his likeness...Im with it...I have everything he has ever made...he is a genius...and will be a force in the game for years...ICONIC
@TheUntouchableOutlaw KRS got too much energy for Rakim . Rakim got lyricks but he is stiff and boring like nas. Krs is more entertaining while he teaches and has way better delivery than the R.
@thamaineone The Messages Rakim Gives Us Are Signs... He Gives Guidance, His Messages Let Us Realize Who We Really Are And How To Find Out Who Other People Really Are. He Gives Us Deep Thought And Multiple Aspects Of Consciousness. While KRS Is Still Stuck On Violence, Good Message, But Rakims Lyrics, Knowledge, Wisdom, And Message Surpasses KRS By Alot.
Most of the so-called "hip-hop" right now is straight GARBAGE... watered down and WEAK...if you're listening to this song, you can clearly tell the difference

Yeah, it was a direct respond to Ice cube lyrics off Amerikkka most wanted album where he said "self destruction dont pay fucking rent" So KRS=ONE came at him with this track DUCK DOWN, never heard from ice cube again on this issue! I think he knew it was not wise to go against Krs-One. This was a killer track! Lyrics were off the chain, Ice cube had no choice but to leave this beef alone.
KRS wasnt being gangsta, all of his albums had themes, this was off the 92 "Sex & Violence" record, the entire record was about ... sex & violence. Criminal Minded, By Any Means Necessary, Blueprint, Edutainment, Return of the Boom Bap were all theme albums, I used 2 laugh when niggas said KRS contradicted himself, no he didnt, he just rhymed about different subject matters from his perspective (s) at that point n in his life ... I mean, we do change as we learn & mature right? I hope.
You know what...Your the first person besides myself to understand the fact that he's grown as an artist. If it's 1989 and i'm rappin about Guns...In 2008 My subject matter sould have changed. Maybe politics or religion. It's unrealistic to expect an artist to stay the same after that many years. No contradictions, just growth and Change. " We Will Be Here Forever!!!"
Don't forget also to support Redman, outkast, gang star, immortal tecnique, kool g rap, saigon, boot cam click, and De la soul, they got another album about to drop.
If we brought back old school hip hop alot artist would dissapear lol. They don't know how to rap about something other than jewelry, clothes, houses, cars, women, drugs, or guns. Main stream commercial bull shit would die along with the labels that encouraged it. We have to stop supporting commercial BS and buy only the rappers who are doing real hip hop, like KRS 1, Common, Talib Queli, Mos Def,Nas,Lupe fiasco,Slum Village, The roots,Asop rock, Wu-tang clan, lil brotha, blu exile & blac Ice
What's also dope is THIS WAS HIS SINGLE! no bullshit track trying to get on the radio..he was killing shit with lyrics hard hittin beat beatin down punks in the video!!! haha..real shit right here. 1990 real talk
im from 1974, and im so fuckin glad the 80's and mid 90's were pure hiphop era. Shame on all ya who fuckin killed hiphop. This is hiphop, blockparty style, all the way... oh yeah fuck u G unit, 50 cents and all those other assholes.

one of the best song of krs one, man i saw that on mtv in 93, yo mtv raps, that was the only way with magazines and record shops, to know about good tunes. imagine that video played today on mtv ! anyway, today the internet allows us to get infirmation on anything. spread the word guys. sucka mc's duck down !
Black Drug Dealer, you have to rise up! Organize your business so that we can wise up, if you're going to sell crack then don't be a fool, educate your business and open up a school. Drug Dealer! Remember that one?
Yeah, it was a direct respond to Ice cube lyrics off Amerikkka most wanted album where he said "self destruction dont pay fucking rent" So KRS=ONE came at him with this track DUCK DOWN, never heard from ice cube again on this issue! I think he knew it was not wise to go against Krs-One.
how the hell can you compare salt n pepa to the KRS-1 in his prime, what kinda duct laced crack they srrvin you yo? KRS is THE TEACHER...Saltn Pepa are doin reality shows, no disrespect they did they thing back in the 80's, but to compare the 2? smoke that shit boi
First of all chill the fuck out you dick sicking asshole, if you can read retard, all I said was this song and salt n pepa's song "get up" sounds alike and krs is the lyrical Mc, I didn't say shit about comparing the two skills, read carefully before commenting you blind motherfucker
dick SICKING? at least i can spell, i aint no internet thug imma just say fuck you you bitch ass nigga, you aint even from NYC so get fucked in your lil bullshit ass hick town, pop off whats that u let nuts pop off in ya face....maricon veta pa carajo oye!
Thanks to uncle Ralph, I know all these hip hop legends of the 80's and I love them. VHS1 hip hop honors is giving them the props they deserve and I'm happy for that, conscience rappers today is following in their footsteps bringing the love and peace back and I respect them for that. You wanna talk bout my name, you got a homo ass name, sound like you hate titties and pussy. You must be a latin motherfucker, I don't speak spanish bitch, say what you want cause I'm done, quit taking it behind
naaa my dude, i like pussy n tits AND girls tight lil fucking assholes, and yeah I'm LATIN from Wash Heights. Good, i'm happy you did a wikiperida seacrhg on Uncle Ralph, its all good. Like i said i aint no internet thug but i stay in the Heights wit my Dominican fam, where you at? you at liberty to diucuss dat?
you 10 yeah old lil bitch, what the FUCK you know about hip hop history, without looking at wikipedia who was Salt n Pepas first dj? Who was KRS One's DJ in 86? Go look it up pop off these nuts in ya mouth
You don't know shit about me you fucking bitch, believe me I know plenty of hip hop history you fucking faggot, born and raised in the Bronx, NY and proud of it still living there and repping it, a 23 year old black man asshole. Salt n Pepa first Dj was spinderella, then got replaced by another who was also named Spinderella, KRS-ONE and his 1st Dj Scott La Rock formed BDP, I hope the person that killed him burns in hell, I been watching video music box since I was 3
23? nigga you was what, 5 or 6 when Wu tang came out? good for yhou, learn spanbish if you from NY...i'm done wit you tho, cuz i got betta things to do...abra tu boca y chupmis bolas con salsa ya digg? Bitch? yeah ya bitch got my dick in her ass...punto no mas marico...go learn ya spanish cuz ya'll black folks is the minority now ya diggs!
I was 8 when wu-tang came out fam, I didn't need to look up wikiperdia to know my hip hop history, born in '85 and know what real hip hop is, I'm know internet thug either so don't disrespect my Race cause I never disrespected yours you also a minority, luckily I'm a peaceful man cause if I was the oppostie you be dead, you started this whole beef between us when you said something disrespectful on my 1st comment, whatever you said in spanish fuck you for that, your girl and mom was on my dick
I talk alot of shit when im twisted, you made your point i took it there, it aint nuttin...im about hip hop is what is homie, music can get emotional sometimes feel me? All Praises Due
We both said things we should not have said and acted like stupid kids for nothing, we grown men and we can't act foolish, we respect real hip hop legends and we don't want to be thugs at all, so stay positive man cause I'm doing the same, fuck this negativity shit
No doubt fam, I'm overlooking all the negativity said back n forth...after all, we are linking in a BDP/KRS video...no room for negative bullshit. Like i said my head was inna bad space for a few days. Aight fam, you DO know ya shit, so being that we both respect real hip hop, KNOW hip hop, we both bleed the same bloos, my props to you brother, I'm from NYC, you too? Peace n Wisdom...UptowN
yeah, I am ashamed at my words because that is not me...it turned out that you are a very intelligent, cool brother from what i can tell. where you from? Keep it 100
you get props in the first place for even being on a 92 BDP jam, at 23 you in the middle where you get swayed by the "bullshit" that passes for hip hop these days. If you was rocking to 36 Chambers at 8, there you go. there is a greta line from this same album "Sex and Violence"...drug dealer Black and Hispanic, stop killin each other cuz in the ghetto we all brothas
"I don't battle to loose or win - I battle to ruin your whole career- Yo' watch what you're doin'!"
To the MC's today- "You don't see your whole race in bondage....no you grab the microphone and feed them garbage"!

In addition to Kris beefing with X-Clan during this period, the whole Sex And Violence album had subliminal disses towards NWA and Ice Cube.

We both said things we should not have said and acted like stupid kids for nothing, we grown men and we can't act foolish, we respect real hip hop legends and we don't want to be thugs at all, so stay positive man cause I'm doing the same, fuck this negativity shit
popoff21 3 years ago
No doubt fam, I'm overlooking all the negativity said back n forth...after all, we are linking in a BDP/KRS video...no room for negative bullshit. you get props in the first place for even being on a 92 BDP jam, at 23 you in the middle where you get swayed by the "bullshit" that passes for hip hop these days. If you was rocking to 36 Chambers at 8, there you go. there is a greta line from this same album "Sex and Violence"...drug dealer Black and Hispanic, stop killin each other cuz in the ghetto we all brothas
