I see what you're saying, but the reaction was justified. Diana was 36 when she died, which is a tragedy. Mother Teresa was 87, not exactly unexpected or tragic.

I also don't think those who loved Diana were superficial. She was just young and had so much potential and her death was deeply shocking and upsetting.

Further, Diana was not religious, unlike Mother Teresa, and she therefore was able to reach out to many more people. Her appeal was universal, unlike that of Mother Teresa.
