Being drunk made him less funny than he could have been - he went on and on when he would have been funnier if he had edited himself. You can expose your own weaknesses and use that as material for humour, like Mikey does so well (and still stays professional), but Mike got personal and nasty to Fiona O'Loughlin. He was out of control. That's the difference. However gross DAAS were, they always knew what they were doing. He didn't; it was pitiable.
