LOL, this drainage tunnel runs under Skyline Dr. which has been closed since late 09 i think. The township closed the road because they were afraid of the road washing away. Last i heard it would cost $300K at least to redo it and the funds aren't there. Because this road is in a unincorporated area, c'ville won't pay to repair it. This creek used to flow into Lake Marion which was drained in the early 80's, the leftover dam embankment can be seen from Williams Rd to the west.
@twizted187x I don't know if you read any of the comments, but at least two others have said this. Trust me, I know. I took the long way to make it more interesting.
It used to be Keith Andreas park named after a local kid who passed away tragically. There is an apple tree by the tunnels that I planted by dropping an apple there as a kid. I swear. I have heard of the nutcracker too. It was a steel hand rail in the middle of nowhere in the woods. People used to ski down there in the old days. There's also a stairway in those woods. Lots of things that used to be something down there. Now it's all ruined and overgrown.
I live right near these tunnels. I grew up playing back there. There used to be a playground just past the opening of the tunnels. It was falling apart when I was little. There used to be a drainage ditch through my yard. Now the park has deer living there. It used to have a lot of little bridges and things. When I was little teens used to party down there and scream all night and keep me awake. I used to photograph my neat fairy dolls down there. Also used to clean up garbage.
I don't know why their wasn't any water down their i'm always down their its fun when theirs ice, But you guys should of interduced the Nut Cracker sledding hill you were right by it. and if i was with you i would of showed you all the short cuts btw the sewer if you walk all the way through it you will end up on Kings rd by the shell gas station. you should do more adventure videos of those woods, which is also called Andres Park, I will do a video response of the woods and will go in the sewer
@PokemonVsYugioh At the time it hadn't rained for weeks. It was a pretty dry fall season. As for the rest of your suggestions, I do know a few short cuts and I know there were a few more things to cover (like the exit by Kings Road and such), but what I try to do with these videos is make just a basic overview and leave a lot of the details and exploring out for those who want to explore and discover things for themselves, you know?
I used to live not to far from where you guys shot this.... Pretty cool video! When did you guys shot this? That drain pipe and creek were like that in the 80's as I was growing up.
@imperialscot I'm glad I decided to put the exploration dates of these locations in the credits. It's good for everyone to know what the current state of the place is. Our date was October 17, 2010! :D
Wow, you guys made a real adventure out of this lol An easier way is to just go to the south west corner of Queens Court, Carpentersville, IL, (Google it on Maps to see what I mean) head South following the sidewalk, down into the stream, and follow it North West until you see the hole (about 200ft). I've been there a bunch of times :)
@anaka1141 Haha, yeah. We did know about that, but where's the fun in that? We entered in by where I made the entrance on my website anyway to avoid confusion.
