Hey every one I just moved from Germany to North Carolina and so far I seem to enjoy the American South's culture. Some people have been very friendly while others have been extremely rude. I heard that the South is very anti-German overall and I was wondering if you find this to be true. However, I went up to the northern states and everyone was rude to me(even to the point of calling me a ''naz'' and a ''Jew Killer'' for no logical reason) so it might be just a U.S. thing as a whole.

Also calling him a vicar could be interpeted as saying that he is Protestant since vicar translates as a Episcopal Church cleric , an Anglican priest who is a priest in the Church of England, member of Anglican clergy who acts in place of a bishop, or a Roman Catholic priest who represents or deputizes for a bishop. 3/4 of those are Protestant. So you need to choose one of those meanings.

first of all i would like to say that this is no place to argue which side was more righteous during the war but to pay tribute to all the the men who fell especially to the men who fell wearing of the gray 2nd of all im the third great grandson of civil war veteran who along with his six brothers fought for the confederacy in va and ky im so proud of them and hope one day in that glory land i will be able to see my relatives.

The "bounty and furlough act", A worse law could hardly have been imposed on the South by the enemy.
On October 11, the Confederate Congress amended the draft law to exempt anyone who owned 20 or more slaves.

He emigrated in the USA and thought, to become a cotton farmer, respectively to spend his money in the booming cotton, would be a clever idea. He became a part of the southern economic system. As far as i know, there were more financial than patriotic motives for him to fight. Especially when Georgia began to change cottonfields to cornland. Nevertheless he fought and died for Dixie !

It's true that both had brave soldiers - we were all Americans - but the Confederacy was right. The rebellion was the same as the first American Revolution. Men fought and died to remain free from big government tyranny, for the wholly American freedom to govern themselves. It was unfortunate they were eventually defeated, for this nation has lived under that overstepping authority ever since, and it just continues to grow, becoming more corrupt. We will surely see a 3rd American revolution.

@MrSteverino1958 . Robert E is my second cousin and George Washington my 2nd cousins also. It took till the 1880's for the Lee family to get paid for land taken by the United States. I always like Powell Hill and the light Brigade, its great to see the family still survives. My grandfather fought with the 10th Texas Field Battery and Shelby's Iron Brigade. Many of the family fell and I respect and honor them. As for compensation, give them money if it will make them happy. It's too old.
