good deal, I think that's what I'm going to end up doing, it's simple and it takes like 5sec to set up... by the way, the only reason I'm able to buy this stuff while being in college is because I manage my money (and I've never been in debt). as long as my tuition and other expenses are paid for, I don't have to feel bad about spending money here and there for things I need.
in this case, it just means that I have 2 computers now and only need 1 (oops)...
That's cool I hope to stay out of debt as well. I would suggest you keeping your iMac && the MacBook because you never know what your going to be doing next, but money can be a situation. Can't wait for the next vid. :]]
true... I've actually been considering just using the iMac as my main computer (for music archiving/editing/recording and general photo/video editing purposes) and using the MacBook just for school stuff (downloaded class notes, on-campus research, papers, etc.). we'll see.
by the way, if you're able to stay out of debt and still go to college, you're in a very small minority of people... but if you can pull it off, it means you don't graduate with $100k of college loans to pay off :).
IF Josaiah can't get to your comment, Firewire is used for video cameras/professional cameras/old iPods/ etc. stuff like that. It's faster than USB and that's why some cameras/etc use it
thanks for fielding that question Sean, that's pretty much what I would've said...
FireWire 400 tends to have the edge over USB 2 for large file transfers in spite of having a smaller bandwidth (FW 400-400Mbps/USB 2- 480Mbps)... for instance, if you're transferring a file backup to another computer.
for general purposes, though, I'm content with USB 2... at least until USB 3 comes out next year.
yes, the backlit keyboard only comes with the 2.4GHz version, but if you know you'll always have a light near where you'll be using your computer, then it won't be a feature you'll miss.
if you need a portable machine for basic word processing/listening to music/browsing the internet, go for the 2.0GHz MacBook... and if you don't need portability, the lower-end 20" iMac should suit you fine. thanks for the comment!
yes, if you go to System Preferences, under Keyboard & Mouse there is an option to turn the backlighting on/off or set the amount of time it stays on. as for the startup video, I'll be including one as part of my review series... appreciate the comments, thanks!
geeze, my last laptop was an HP and it was an excellent computer for the nearly 3yrs I had it... in my opinion, though, you can't pick a much better upgrade than this one.
Congratulations, glad you like it and I bet it's better having a laptop at college, you can it to class, when you go home etc etc. I think I prefer the Mac on a box but it' snot that bad on your desk.
ya, it is easily the best portable I've ever used, hands-down... battery life between 5-6hrs with screen backlight near the lowest setting and active internet connection, it's such a relief now to have a notebook lasts me a full day on campus. thanks for the comment!
i said that comment before i was done and i agree with what i first said but as far as the viewing angle i like it on the box more but if it is easier for you it looks okay without the box :)

Yeah I know. Depending on what you want to become, and the degrees needed it could be even more. It also depends on what type of college you go to.
I would use the iMac as my main computer, it's actually my set up right now.
