  • i remember buying this album because i was in a rut on guitar... wanted to put something new in my ears... just picked it up based on the cover... best purchase i ever made... i started modeling my fingerstyle after his style... love his playing and emotion. If i listen to it through headphones, i feel winter... I feel the cold air... amazing music!

  • i met George Winston at a concert in person. i had his winter in to spring album on vinyl never opened to get it signed by him. so here what happened... i finally got my chance to talk to him and i asked him to sign the album. and there are lots of people asking him question so with out thinking he opened the album up! my eye fell out of my head when he did this. i kept my cool though lol. every one gasped around him and he looked down and said i guess i was supost to do that.

  • I ♥ U George !! Ur piano playing is 4ever embedded in my soul.

  • Perfection with every note!

... and the goes for all of his music.

  • Thank you. I heard this a while ago and finally found it. Thank you for Thanksgiving.

  • who else was brought here by fnd's facebook page?

  • hipster music

  • Reflective, spacious, sad yet grand and sublime.

  • I hate the way he bangs out some notes so loud...so un-beautiful

  • To see him in concert is to spend an hour and a half in a distant place that's incredibly peaceful and fulfilling. I have always loved his music but watching him play is almost surreal!

  • i wish i culd learn 2 play country style like him

  • Nice percussive notes

  • I wish I could play the Piano ;_;

  • wow - i don't think you could get more melancholy....BRAVO!

  • George winston Ludivico einaudi Brian crain Dan campbell Kevin kern Yiruma Michael nyman Yann tiersen Giovanni allevi Yuki kajiura Helen jane long and the list go on.........

  • does anyone know where this sheet music is available? i bout his music book and it has a simpler version of this song.

  • 22 dislikes? must be retarded...

  • How can anyone not like this???

  • Whenever someone questions Winston's brilliance, I just listen to my heart.

  • ...22 people have not soul inside...

  • My all-time favorite by George Winston. I'm very privileged to have this on vinyl. :)

  • We used this song in the background of our Christmas performance's drama, about a man who had lost everything and had gone onto drugs, and about a man who was losing his home and an elderly man in a nursing home who just wanted to die. Then a lady (played by my mom) came over to all of them giving them a Bible and reminding them that there's hope in God and he will give you all that you need. So they come to know Christ in the drama. It was very touching. I think the drama got to everyone.

  • this music is on VOS :D

  • When you hear any of his compositions you know its him right away. He is in a class by himself.

  • he is an egg head but he is good better than most out there now.

  • unlimited inspiration. thank you.

  • I have searched this particular piano solo since 1994 and today after thinking of the woman whom burned this into my heart, I finally re-live that one purposeful evening we shared. This is simply the most moving and most beautiful piano solo that moves me in ways only myself and the other (K) can imagine. After 17+ years I find the music that ignites my past, simply beautiful, simply.

  • He is great pianist and composer. I have a lot of memories when i hear this music.

  • He's simply incredible.

  • I don't think music being in public schools has to do anything with it. There are still great musicians out there. But our definition of great is different from the masses because our perception levels are so different. If you grow up around crap music, odds are, your are going to "like" it. Being subjected to every type of music and still arriving at the likes of Lady Gaga is what we call stupidity, not lack of education. Although I can guarantee you Winston's motives are for the art, not fame.

  • how beautiful!!

  • Thank you George for giving us this song.

  • He was at my school :o

  • Thank you for this video. First time I've ever seen GW playing. First heard

his music where I was bartender at the Washington St. Bar and Restaurant

in Yountville, Ca. (Napa Valley). His "Seasons" casette was one of the

favorites we used during the day and between sets. Watching this video,

I like his sense of rhythm and use of louds and softs to express this

    beautiful piece.

  • Great song - anytime of the year.

  • George Winston's music evokes such raw human emotion, Thanksgiving is a perfect example of this......he is a great artist.

  • Demoledor.

Aparece George Winston, tocado por los dioses, meciéndote de repente en el interior de la más calma armonía...

  • 20 fans de las "spice girls" si esque estos videos no son para vostros .. jajajajajaja

  • I...it's..it's... just...simply..*sigh* breath taking BEAUITFUL ...

  • It is March, now, but as I listen to this piece I feel like it is November; the brisk breeze at the bay rustling by as I walk bare feet on these white sands. Beautiful feeling!

  • This is TRUE music..... Artistry at its best. Breathtakingly beautiful.........

  • This is my favorite George Winston tune. I find it very emotional, any one else feel that?

  • @toddcharry I do. It is very nostalgic.

  • @toddcharry COUNT ME IN WiTH YOU!!!

  • @toddcharry I feel that way. I'm only 19 but my mother used to play his album December and this song make me very emotional reminding me of my childhood and what a great life I had and still have. I adore all of his music; especially December, the album.

  • @toddcharry - I have to agree completely. Listening to this music feels like my pandora's box of emotions opens up - absolutely beautiful melody.

  • Yeah so do I! Beautiful, much like Keith Jarrett's music to me!

  • @toddcharry This has been my favorite George Winston tune for years- it brings out a lot of emotion in me, and visualizations and memories.... fabulous.

  • @toddcharry very emotional for me...

i love this song...my favorite as well

  • @Stratmastuh if u don't think he is a great musician look up George winston playing cat and mouse. He is amazing and has a wonderful gift of being one of the best pianists in the world

  • How much flame will I get on this video for saying that George Winston actually isn't that brilliant of a musician, despite writing easy-to-listen-to beautiful music.

  • @Stratmastuh Just watch his playing Cat & Mouse, then try to tell me he isn't a brilliant musician.

  • @Stratmastuh Oh, I guess somebody already said that. Either way, do it. =) He truly is incredibly talented with his technique, but he chooses to write more meaningful pieces instead of showy and flashy ones.

  • @Stratmastuh

You're right. He isn't that brilliant. But it takes some damn good talent to play so emotional like he does, it takes some timing.

  • he came to my school bout 2 days ago and hes pretty awesome!

  • Beast

  • It is funny that Christina Aguilera song Hurt sounds like she took this and put words to the emotions that are coming through his music.

  • Hermoso...george tocado por los dioses.

  • definitely my favorite winston song. so emotionally perfect. simple, sad but somehow hopeful. great song. if you like instrumental piano i'd love feedback on my own songs in my channel (click my name) you may like "after the rain has fallen" if you like this song...

  • ravishing music.

  • 20 people doesn't know to appreciate a beautiful music....

  • The truth is that it takes pure gifting and technique to make you feel something so deep. He is also a technical Pianist and proves it in other pieces. Amazing Man.

    Tommie Vaughn pianomaster300

  • INCREIBLE,INCREIBLE

  • i could write a better song than this in 30 seconds....

  • I was looking up events in Visalia Ca and found this guy gonna play there. This guy is amazing!!! Never heard of him before!! I am officially a Fan of George Winston. This is the kind of piano music i've been searching for!!!

Definitely gonna see him live!!! =D

  • The way he did this is so incredible he made that song cry on the fly i love his variation on his own piece... sounds like heaven TOUCH ON THE KEYS IS INCREDIBLE I WANNA SOUNDS THIS GOOD WHEN I PLAY...passion at its finest you can hear a purpose in everynote

  • I have been a George Winston fan since I was about 12. The most beautiful and relaxing music I have ever heard. Thanks George.

  • I try to stop crying

  • me gusta mucho mucho . . . .muy bonito

  • I agree with many points that Fretbuzz makes but I think it is going too far to call it bullshit or to compare it to a child's drawing on a refrigerator. Surely it requires more skill and technique than that. It IS a rather cliched progression and it IS a composition that could be matched content-wise by many college music majors; however, how many of them could actually sit at the piano like George and let the music flow out of their hearts without worrying that it is not technical enough?

  • shopping your christmas ugg boots

    uggbootery com

  • For all you complex music people, this might be simple, but to someone like me who only hears good music and bad, as a mood for feeling it promotes, this is very relaxing, and does set a mood, simple or complex it fits a mind and feeling set, and is very well done with passion even if it is easy,Funny thing is music you didnt like 10 years ago, might , become appreciated now, and music you liked then, might be stupid today, funny thing is if its done well, should be appreciated.

  • bloody marvelous!

  • Happy thanksgiving everyone!

  • All I can say is WOW!

  • I've loved this piece for a long time now. I'm a little not used to his rendition here, though. I'm surprised no one has spoken of how he really and very deliberately hammers some of the notes. It's such a gentle song, to me, that that feels incongruent.

  • He is a hack

  • this is something eye would do idd eye ws ullowed to grow UPP

  • Absolutely beautiful, thanks for posting!

  • So beautiful!!!!!

  • This video is copied from his DVD... it is copyright infringement!

  • @Richsap I bet you report neighbours to the cops!

  • 18 people were crying so hard out of awe for this piece that they mixed the buttons up.

  • Will people please give the lady ga ga statements a rest, as if her music has anything to do with this. There is nothing wrong with gaga, depends on what you are looking for at the time. I wouldn't listen to Wagner if I wanted a calming tune like this. And I wouldn't listen to this if I wanted to dance in a club. Everything in its season.

  • my parents love this and so do i.

  • I like his album version better.. but this is nice too

  • its hard not to get heavily emotional when listening to this song, i dont care how simple it is

  • @xoxoDAVETANGOxoxo everything.

  • who in the name of god disliked this???

  • December is one of the best albums ever recorded. We play this every Christmas Eve opening presents. George Winston is amazing!

  • Is George related to Stan Winston?

  • This is pure and real music. made with love by a person who follows his heart. deep bow to george!

  • December is the only one album (in music history) in Billboard charts for more than 10 years. A real world record! Still in charts for more than 10 years! Thank you George!

  • I love and love this song really much

  • with music like this, living on Earth feels like heaven..

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing. He is my new hero, and I will strive to be anything close to as good as him!!! I just have to learn this song, it gets better and better with each replay!

  • @corraxitox amen

  • Wow, he is a really great musician, i enjoy it, as i'm doing an research project on thanksgiving day, i will use it for my work! (:

  • 17 haters that just cant play any instrument would dislike this vid!

    its just.. AMAZING!!!

you can see piano players.. but he just plays with fifths, sevenths, 9ths, 11ths, minors, majors, agh.. lovely!

    Great

  • This is my favorite song from him. Soothing, sweet, gentle...

  • i gotta say

    this is talent

most of the "singers" today, like Justin Bieber, Jonas brothers and camp rock, that crap, all of em are from disney corporation

they dont have talent at all, and most of theyr fans r teenagers

    thats just sad

  • whoever doesnt like this, is lost and blind, this is a touch to every heart out there no matter the style, artist or opinion, there is talent and then there is magnificents, and this is true natures love, thank you george winstion for your inspiration:)

  • You know, while listening to this song, I start to write a poem for a friend, that died a long time ago....is amazing how listening to such piano piece, it relaxes you and the inspiration is just coming:)Thank you from the heart:*

  • unbelievable, people need to search for keith jarret or oscar peterson , this guy is alright, but hardly much of a pianist

  • @joinmeform

I'm sorry, looks like I was short on my thoughts! Thanks for giving me a new look on things, appreciate it! :)

    @ironangel6

Hey, I did that too, and after joinmeform's comment, I guess we need to review our thoughts on music! I mean of course, people like me and you enjoy this type of music but to others, it might sound boring. I do think that Lady Gaga deserves respect (after joinmeform's commen), but I agree, we shouldn't be affected by media on our judgement of good music.

  • just beautiful

  • i can feel something when i hear this beautiful piece...

  • jamás me canso de escuchar a george winston

  • loved george winston solo piano long before when i was still in high school. and just recently i was able to have all copies of his albums. GREAT! and like it alot!

  • don't know abou tha' rest of you, but this tune comes across as sooo sooo sad to me....the album version seems a bit sadder than the live version...but love emmm' both

  • @boogiebongcal That's ironic, I find it somehow comforting and gratifying. Just depends on the mood and setting. What an inspiration, that guy. I didn't realize how much he influenced me until I tried my own compositions earlier this year.

  • @negativewashout lol this is ironic; your user id is "negative" and you find thanksgiving comforting , mine is "boogie" and i find it sooooo sad IS'NT IT IRONIC.... each chord pulls at my heartstrings.... the magic and mystery of music.... means something special and different to everyone

  • How did the world go from this... to Lady Gaga??

  • @BeethovenJay don't understand it myself.... This is so beautiful! peaceful and full of emotion... ;)

  • @BeethovenJay Just goes to show that we need to initiate our own cultural renaissance. We can begin by supporting musicians like Mr. Winston and turning away from Lady Gaga. It's time we stopped listening to what we are told is good music by the media. They no longer deserve our respect or our support.

  • @BeethovenJay,off of your past post. who are you to say that lady gaga isn't a good, creative musician? now I'm not saying that I like Lady Gaga and I really do love this music that Mr. Winston is playing, BUT there are people who enjoy Gaga's music. So isn't that what music is about? about people that enjoy and are passionate about someones art? Music is a relative art, in fact any kind of art is, It just depend's on the person. So you can not realistically say that we need to refuse Lady Gaga.

  • @joinmeform I completely agree. I happen to be a HUGE fan of George winston and Lady Gaga. I love and appreciate the skill and talent from both artists. They may be vastly different, but they are both incredible musicians, and incredibly talented people. I can't stand when people hate on Lady gaga, she is extremely creative and most people just dissmiss her work without really examining how great it is. and at the same time, I grew up with winston and think his work is captivatingly beautiful.

  • @BeethovenJay

How did the world go from Red Garland, Bill Evans, Horace Silver....to this?

  • @RootsinBrooklyn now you're about the only one who knows what he's talking about!

  • @BeethovenJay Whats wrong with Lady Gaga?

  • i know, right?

  • @BeethovenJay The world went from this to Lady Gaga because the arts were ripped out of public schools in the mid-80s so fewer people are now skilled at playing great music or knowing what great musical talent is.

  • @gregorybyerline :P that doesn't explain the BeeGee's they where in the 70s haha

I'm sure you can go back further for music that was over played or over rated or what ever you want to call it. in the 50s they blamed the curroption of the youth to the "devils music" Rock N Roll there will always be excuses and finger pointing but the simple truth is. People don't need anyone to tell them what is good/bad or what they should enjoy. Music is Art and is in the eye of the beholder

  • @gregorybyerline Did you know that Lady Gaga studied music? She is actually a really talented person, she just puts out crap! :/ It's sad.

  • @gregorybyerline

While I agree that this is wonderful music; it was composed in 1982 and didn't come near a Grammy. Some Grammy winners that year were Sheena Easton and Kim Carnes. In 1983 some of the winners were Men at Work and Toto. While you may like these artists better than Lady Gaga, your political premise most certainly doesn't hold...How did we get from Ray Charles to Men at Work? Must have been all that fiddling with art education in the 60's...

  • @gregorybyerline why do you have to hate on lady gaga? at least she's professional compared to those like selena gomez and justin bieber :(

  • @gregorybyerline 100% correct

  • @gregorybyerline this it it 21 st century, everybody is thinking that we evaluate but we degradate more and more :( . I'm 16 years old, and when other from my class listen to Gaga and Bieber, I listen to real beautiful music.

    ps. sorry for my English

  • @gregorybyerline - unfortunately, I must agree with you. I started my schooling in my native country Peru, where I was taught music. But when I moved to the USA to continue with high school, music was almost gone already. I will always be in debt to my grandmother Aurora who had the patience to teach me some skills for piano - I just wish I had the same talent as this man playing in this video. As for musical talent in today's students....hmm, I can only cry when I hear Hip-Hop, Rap, Lady Gaga.

  • @gregorybyerline absolutely agree

  • @gregorybyerline All is not lost, life is resilient, if you or I care, we are in a position to improve things, even if for only one person, even if only for ourselves, the past is the past and yes it did happen, and now, what today, what delightful way will we bring more music back - or forward - how will we innovate and explore now? Hope is not lost unless you say it is.

  • @gregorybyerline Apples and Oranges. Gaga is impressive in her own right - I thoroughly enjoy both.

  • @gregorybyerline Though I am not a Gaga fan at all, in fact the fad can not end FAST ENOUGH! She knows her music and the theory that goes along with. There are still people who know what they are doing with their instruments...but now we, music lovers, just have to look a little harder...its out there,

  • @BeethovenJay beats me...

  • @BeethovenJay The best answer I've gotten so far is in the documentary, "Before the Music Stops".

  • @BeethovenJay: the same way as in nature but in reverse: from humans to apes.

  • @BeethovenJay whoah jay u got 105? O____o

  • @BeethovenJay lady gaga can play this with her feet

  • @BeethovenJay it didn't. it heard this song and stopped. :-)

  • @BeethovenJay Actually, Lady Gaga represents the oldest profession. We must simply savor the alternatives when they arise.

  • @BeethovenJay it's the damn global warming man,..making poeple go,..INSANE!!

  • @BeethovenJay The response is that the world believes that this type of music is for elevators and is a shame because this if it is musical indeed and not lady gaga. Excuse Englishman does not speak. A greeting

  • Conozco a winston desde la epoca del new age, del album "december" pero verlo en vivo es excelente gracias por el video

  • I remember, when my father was alive, he liked to play this cd in the morning. it was one of his favourite cds. we heard the cd at the breakfast and i loved it. everytime, he did that, the morning was great.

  • One of my favorite songs. Well played!

  • I wonder...how did the MAN ever come up with this melody?!

    So ADDICITING

  • Too much ego around here, Chopin and Satie has nothing to do here, George Winston it's George Winston, you can like it or hate it, but as many other composers, don't go around saying "His compositions are like 5th grade poetry."

I totally doubt the people who are talking bad can't even compose.

  • fretbuzz, if I ever meet you, I will tear your f-ing hands off!

  • this song is tight, i love the piano, i wish i knew how to play it but it take a lot of time. this song makes me think alot of wen i was a kid an all the things i did an had happen in my life the good an the bad, an too Thebigpeeaye better believe it there is a god, :D Amen

  • I bet mr. fretbuzz there never played piano, but that does'nt even matter. stick to your guitar and maybe you'll make something that us unleaned musicians can call bullshit. Winston may not be a technical piano wizard, but the man knows how to put together a song that can truly move the soul.

  • @vujadae0001 In fact, piano was my first instrument, though I don't call myself a pianist, by any stretch. But I can play this dreck.

I'm afraid you're all missing the point. I'm not talking about technical wizardry, I'm talking about musical substance, which this lacks. Take a beautiful folk song like Danny Boy. So simple, yet so compelling. This is trite nonsense.

  • A wonderful melody...I like it.

  • Beautiful song for any time of thanksgiving. Thank you.

  • Like watching paint dry...

  • Nice music! If you like George Winston check out the music of pianist Judson Hurd!

  • Nice music! If you like George Winston check out the music of pianist Judson Hurd on youtube.

  • He is the BEST

  • ♫ ♥ ♫ George, this is a stunning piece of music! ♫ ♥ ♫

  • Gorgeous

    Wonderful

    Amazing

    Calm

    Relaxing

    Beautiful

  • чудесна пісня!

  • I love the improv in this performance

  • 平静又又安静 很适合我

  • This song touches me more deeply than any other song I can think of. It makes me think of my past (when it originally came out) but also of my future. It just seems like the kind of song that should be playing when your sitting around at age 96 thinking back on your life and trying to decide if you did okay or not.

  • @attempt198

you can also hear it when you´re twenty and you are feeling lost

  • one of my favorite pianists

  • Glad there's someone else that appreciates George Winston; I've been listening to his music since the mid-80's. Thanks ic3blue!

  • SOOOOOOOOO beautiful !!!!!!!!

  • i love it~

  • Sutil . Delicado . Genial .

  • Gran tema Thanksgiving (acciòn de gracias).
