This is almost all wrong. There are two gods associated with the Celtic yearly cycle but neither departs and returns at Halloween. Midnight would have had no meaning for ancient Celts who reckoned days from sunset to sunset. Samhain is the name of the festival (from Samonios, "the completion of Summer") not a god; that idea is drawn from that old Jehovah's Witness tract which used to do the rounds every year. Human sacrifice "phased out by 1600" is laughable.
