@Xflex9 you don't realize that he puts them in certain joint locks and they have no choice but to move with it otherwise they'd get their wrist or whatever broken
Haven't seen Sensei Joe in years :) For you doubters out there, part of the testing required to reach belts involves you having to defend against multiple attackers with as many different techniques as possible. You don't get to rehearse that.

yeh amazing that is, people just doing flips cause he moves them a bit that wouldnt happen on the street, if i was in a street fight with him id knock him out the black twat
I admit I've only met and trained with Sensei Thambu the one time, but he was a huge inspiration to me. I'm a small guy but he's even smaller than me, yet he can execute perfect technique on an attacker of any size. He's living proof that size and strength don't matter in aikido (which is one of the reasons I love it so much).
The reason it is not rehersed is because as a sensei you can not remember all these moves with all the other stuff on your mind. You just get started and see what pops in your mind next and apologize for half killing the
students later. It looks choreography to you because you are looking at more than 22 techniques professionlly executed on behind
for one thing this is anything but rehearsed all uke knows is how to strike... as any martial artist knows (if your not one then you should not be making such comments) but as any know theres no telling what youll do in the heat of the moment what sensei Joe is doing is jiyuwaza which is "freestyle" not scripted... it may look it because of his extreme perfect techniques but it is anything but.
Every demo has some kind of agenda, that's what makes it a demo! Only an idiot would argue that point. As uke for Thambu Sensei countless times I never rehearsed, at best Sensei would specify the first 1-2 attacks just before we walk out. After that I would do my best to keep up and stay in one piece! Sensei uses demos to teach his students spontaneity and focus, he is first and foremost an excellent teacher.
Choreography?! If you want to see someone fumbling around then you should watch a demo from someone who doesn't know what they're doing, it may look choreographed because Sensei's technique is so good, from having practiced for over 30 years. And besides Thambu Sensei normally doesn't even let his uke's know what they're doing until they're on the mats. And a true test?? once you get to Sensei's level i think he's been "tested" enough times. Aiki2007 is a smart person.
Let me tell you something, when you reach these levels you do not need to 'rehearse', trust me on this one. I have been at receiving end of it on more than one occasion and the only thing I can advise is to be somewhere else when it is being dished out.
I want to see this kind of thing but have no choreography, and the defender not aware of what the assailants will do. This would be a true test, and not a simple rehearsal. What do you think?
The uke/attkr always end up losing in exs, thats its purpose. However, this doesnt mean its choreod, the uke can attack in anyway he/she wishes, and the role of the nage is to equilibrate the attackers chi.
Those guys are really attacking the Sensei, yet, as their role is the uke and they do not change roles, they will end up defeated.
But make no mistake, if u engage sm1 as experienced as the Sensei, trust me, whatever ur role is, u ll end up in the floor for sure.
might be, then again it could simply end in multiple fractures for whoever is trying to attack sensei. if you think the video is scary, it's nothing compared to actually seeing him live

All this is is just another Bunkai by the looks of it. IT looks fantastic and yes, doable but it is not actually happening there
