I'm sorry, but I believe you're not actually sorry at all. No, we didn't practice. We do it for FUN, even if we're not GOOD at it. We do not have access to practice trail at home, and I don't care enough to go find a way to. If we were showing breed shows, I might bother, but at $5 per class, I'm not too worried.
Hey sorry to have offended you...Your appy just looks a little cranky...That's why I agreed with Tempis...Sorry to hear about his physical issues...Did you get him x-rayed? Did your vet ok him to work at the level you are showing him...And sorry to hear your computer is not working. But I think I saw you at a show this past weekend riding your chestnut...looks like you tried hard...sorry it didn't go so well...better luck next time.
Sorry I sounded cranky, I tend to get that way when people think they know more about my horse than I do. He has been approved to be working at the level he is working at, which I commented on in my reply to Tempis. I didn't realize you're in Region 6, which show were you at? Do you show?
yeah, i would be in region 6, but have not been showing yet because I am new to the area and need to find a trainer for my horse. any suggestions? who do you work with? I have been asking around and have not found the right fit. No worries about being cranky.
First of all, he also doesn't leg yeild well, incase you haven't noticed by the other videos. This horse has a compressed hip and a compressed shoulder that make lateral work extremely hard for him, so I do not worry about it too much. This video shows a horse that is 10000x better than when I started with him in Trail, and it works on trust.
I am still showing both of my horses, however I cannot upload videos from my own computer, I must do it from another. I will try to post more soon.
Compressed hip and shoulder? Doesn't the equine body do that naturally by movement, I think it's pretty impossible for it to stay that way. And if they do, you probably shouldn't be riding the horse cause I imagine most vets would agree there would be a large amount of discomfort to the horse only increased with a rider on its back.
The horse has had thousands of dollars worth of body work to keep him in a comfortable state that is also good enough to show up to first level. We accept him as what he is, and accept that he will never be able to do lateral work well. I am not sure why you are so concerned, seeing as he is not your problem, however I do somewhat enjoy knowing people care that much about horses. He has been checked out by one of the best vets in the country, and is rideable, he just has his limits.
have to agree with Gladyellie, a little curious why a horse who does dressage can't side pass, and he looks really unhappy doing it, maybe you should stick with what he likes, you can't say this is for fun at least for him.
How can you say something so mean!?! Can't you see she is trying? Could you do any better? It was a very good pattern. Just because she is novice in it, doesn't mean it was bad.
Thank you for your support, but I am not a novice rider (I'm slightly more novice in trail, but I DID qualify for state 4-H in it on a different horse). This horse simply has problems with trail because he is a dressage horse, and we only do it for fun. We are not competitive in trail by any stretch of the imagination, only in 4-H!
Oh it's quite alright, you didn't offend me, I can see why someone would think we were novice. =) I current show Inky (the Appy in this video) Training and 1st level, seeing as that's about as high as he'll ever go, and am current showing Lipton (My Dutch Warmblood) in 2nd level, hoping to jump to FEI Juniors this season.
The step up is only a few inches, but for some reason Inky just can't deal with it! Our trail courses are rather difficult, especially because our Regular trail course and our Bronze medal trail course are the same.
nice! I'm thinking about taking my arab to some trail competitions with my local 4h...You have a gorgeous appy! He looks just like my mom's horse.

I was thinking the same as Tempis. Also...wondering why no new videos in 10 months...are you still showing your other horse?

oh. My apologies. I didn't mean to offend. :/ Congratulations on the qualifying. You do dressage? That is cool! What level of dressage do you show?

I am proud of you! You kept your patience the whole time. You never got mad. Keep practicing and I know you will get better! Good luck!

Thank you, it took me 2 years to learn that even if the horse is casting the bait for an argument not to bite. =)
