  • There is a KFC outlet in Rawalpindi-Pakistan, deaf boys and girls are managing it, went lots of time there and never felt a problem in ordering. Good thing is they always smile :)

  • bakan !!!!...

  • The sign for America in Egyptian Sign Language is actually two gun handshapes quickfiring at the hips. However, most of the Deaf Community are aware of the alternative signs. The deaf in Egypt often learn ASL as a second language if they have the opportunity or the internet and ability to meet some ASL users.

  • The sign for Cairo is actually the sign for 'Giza' the area the KFC is in. The sign for Cairo is a pyramid with the hands breaking apart with both hands forming downward facing L's.

  • Left a comment earlier, but also the sign the manager does for America is exactly the same as we do here in Australia

  • The manager is totally cute.

  • this is an Arab country for you people

  • It's also very useful in such a noisy environment, jesus! Every time I see someone speaking in signs I get more and more jealous, in spite of the effort it means as compared to spoken language. Have to learn it some of these days.

  • Great video clip. KFC is doing a good job providing a place for deaf people to order food. I went to McD. and saw a deaf women taking to order a meal and the teller did not understand her. So she walked out. Sad.

  • @marilynphan

on the other hand she was saved from eating mcdonald's

  • @marilynphan: She could have written her order on a piece of paper

  • It's interesting..i dont know egypt sign language but they sign and i suprise... thanks for video.. i m enjoy.. I wish whole deaf people works KFC or McDonald in USA.

  • THAT PLACE SURE IS NOISY

  • Hello, this is a wonderful video, thanks for posting! I'm just wondering if the staff are using American Sign Language, as the alphabet signs in the restaurant are different to British Sign Language.

  • This has to be one of the coolest things I have seen! This could be seen as a model for other countries...

  • I work for kfc and have often wonderd if it is worth them having training for staff to be able to speak sign language. I think it would certainly be helpful.

  • Awesome! Do they have a hearing/speaking person their to interpret what you want to eat to the employees in case we hearing people wanted to go there and order or would we just need to write it down or point to what we wanted?

  • ya do they?

  • NOW I WANT TO SEE IT MYSELF awesome video clip thank you for sharing!

  • where is Deaf KFC from?

  • do they read ur lips when u order ? how do u communicate if cant sign language..?

  • This is rather progressive for Egyptian/Arab standards

  • I don't know sign language but I was amazed. I watched the whole thing and could care less about subtitles.

  • I LIKE THIS DEAF :) I AM MALTA XXXX

  • i saw u in the nick news so i had 2 c ur videos

  • wow , that is very nice and humanity

  • This is really cool. Subtitles would be nice though so we can enjoy what they're saying.

  • wow! I never see like this before! i never know that there is a restaurant that run by deaf people. That's cool. thank for showing us.

  • quite impressive

    i live in maadi, cairo

but would you tell me where exactly it is located?

  • It's in Dokki, right in front of the Port Said American school. It's literally a 2-minute walk from that school and it's pretty easy to spot as well.

    Good luck :D

  • wow! I like that.

  • WOW!! I got impressed that even in Cairo.

My first thought was: WOW I gotta visit there at once!

But hard to get there because i am from sweden.

I know here inb sweden there is a hairsaloon there owner herself is deaf.

come and visit sweden sometimes too ;D

    Welcome!!

  • I had no idea these existed. I'm goignt to Egypt tonight (for my 5th or 6th visit) to see my family.

  • It very Good!!

    KFC Deaf Aware!

  • Lucky...u get to GO 2 EGYPT!!!!

  • kool!

  • How the heck do they ask if you want fries with that?

  • its different than spoken english, more efficient. what's the sign for fries?

  • Its the same as the sign for restroom but with an f handshape.

  • @mud409 um...sign language my friend

  • wow that hell shock it!! that cool i like to work kfc but i am deaf =/ sometime i am hard of hearing

  • Mmm, that's definitely not the first KFC restaurant mainly run by deafies. I went to one KFC in south-east Kuala Lumpar in Malaysia in 1991 and most of the staff were deaf / hearing impaired. But yes, great to see deaf-run cafes & restaurants all over the world.

  • This is a very great video!

Hello to all our brothers and sisters with hearing disabilities.

Shoukran so much for sharing this video.

I hope YouTube will feature this.

  • amazing wishing best of luck for them and all people

  • I agree :D to some extent :]

  • وأعتقد أن هذا هو حتى تبرد ، أليس كذلك؟ أخيرا المساواة في الحقوق. ط سينتقل إلى مصر ، وننسى اللاتينية.

  • Where in Cairo is this restaurant located?

  • its in the suburb of Dokki, i think,,,quite close to downtown Cairo. There are not many places to stay in Dokki, but for the Safir Hotel, an upscale accommodation near the Nile....

  • I live just across the river from Dokki ;)

  • wow thats cool

  • thats coool. i wish london have same..

  • Im 23 and would love to make a deaf friend to teach me ASL. I know my alphabet by heart and know over 200 words. But would love to learn more. Even if its Cam to Cam chat. If anyone deaf is willing to help and even make a new friends please write me a msg. Thanks :)

  • hi jenna, let me know if u visit egypt again. I would like to invite u for lunch in alexandria deaf branch.

Guys, don't give judges in general. No u r heaps better than egypt & than all of the places that I visited. I am egyptian & there is huge discrimination against minorities in egypt, but when it comes to ppl with disabilities, egyptians feel sorry for them. I think that the reason y u don't have something like this is commercial.

  • see, even this way at least u also get something out of it. learning sign language & also knowing how to accept people as they R.

  • I think that is a great 7 smart thing that they R not discriminating unlike here in america that would never happen. Its so hypocritical how americans make themselves this land o fthe free but even after thousands of years they still practice the same thing. The only difference today is that it is done "tastefully".

  • one more thing I wanna share with u about kfc deaf branches, the delivery guys r not deaf of course, they can speak in signs and their waiting area (where they wait for home delivery orders) is just next to the counter. So, if any of the customers is not intelligent enough or if they don't like the idea of being served by a deaf. These guys talk to customers & translate what they say to deaf staff members.

  • for the customers to listen to.

  • Great video, but why is there music in the restraunt?

  • good question, same time dont forget customers are hearing people... to keep business going.

  • ooh really? wow interesting! thanks for sharing it with me ;)

  • that is not just In cairo, the deaf branches are in every where in egypt. I used to eat in alexandria city deaf kfc in 'kobtec church street, ramla station'

  • Wow..Good Job

  • this was great! i'm going to be an even bigger supporter of kfc now. it's cool that the manager had gone to gallaudet and knew some asl. what a great experience!

  • I love this idea.. wish this was more common. Unfortunately KFC treats their chickens very inhumanely.

  • hirofan-Agreed! Actually, I am vegetarian since birth for animals' sake, but for this video, I just focused on the deaf topic. You can look at my other videos about Animal Slaughtering, etc.

  • OMG!!!!! that is totally awsum. i never know till now. very cool, wish i go to KFC can work there. even i need job too, because finish first job now back search again. very exciting i believe. and hearing people have to point what they want or write. riot!! lol!!! love it!!!!

  • Egypt Is The Best! I Love Egypt

  • America, Egypt and every country is great in its own way!!! so0o0 no comparison :D:D:D

    i love egypt and i love the u.s.a <3

  • Why dont they just write it on a piece of paper what they want its faster to do that and writing is easier since most everyone can do that but not do sign language. Then the deaf person can quickly read it.

  • ShrivyShrivey-there is a menu on counter where customers can point at their orders. in my opinion, its much easier than writing. because its faster. but its your opinion! give that feedback to them! :)

  • I Love Egypt! They are the most friendly people ever!

  • Does Egypt have the same or very similar sign language as America?

  • sotaLAXer-No, their sign language is way different! But, we communicated by using 'universal sign language'. its only used only when someone meet another deaf person who sign in different sign language.

  • Comment removed

  • what a cute little girl lol

  • VEry nice I love that.

  • this is neat! :)

  • Deaf people are not disadvantaged.. The thing that deaf people want most is acceptance into the hearing world. Sure its a different lifestyle but I wouldn't call them disabled or disadvantaged.

  • ucanttouchthisucant-agreed!!!

  • Egypt is the best country in this whole world. Don't tell me America or any other country!

    Egypt is the best!

  • I love Egypt!

  • America is the best!

  • amazing.. but still I hate KFC's service. it's too slow

  • what a gr8 idea to help truly disadvantaged people in egypt - love this - hope it catches on in the rest of mid east and africa !

  • Hi Ropato88, I went there before and they have more printed material than the rest of KFC restaurants. I stepped into the restaurant and I wasn't aware they can't hear, so in order to answer my words that she didn't hear the cashier showed me the printed material, and I pointed at what I want, and I got it. A very good idea that should be there everywhere. I loved that KFC branch :)

  • ibrahimhaggag-awesome!

  • I think most hearing impared learn some mouthb reading...I am just guessing though

  • I answered your question up there, sorry I should have typed it here :)

  • Ropato88- hearing customers point at menu placed on counter, and point at their orders and deaf staff understood. :)

  • wow.. this shocked me. places like that should be in the US. and that man from egypt was in gallaudet 2 years.

  • josuelecho-yes, he told me he went to gallaudent before.

  • This is amazing! I am going to Cairo in a few weeks...

  • NO WAY!

  • really there r place like that here :D .. nice .. where in egypt ?

  • I thought egyptians only eat foul and felefel.

  • how do you think that egyptians only eat fool, egypt has rich and poor people as any country ,USA has35million poor person,

even if we assumed true you should have known that fool produced omm kolthoum,3abd el halim hafez, anwar el sadat,dr ahmad zeweil, sir magdi ya3qoob,3omar el sherif, faten hamama, yousef cahin, naguib mahfooz ...

fool built pyramids, achieved the victory fo 73 by the best soldiers on earth as the prophet peace be upon him said

try to eat it ,it migh fix your mind

  • you are such a stereotype

  • haha, too true my man

  • Wow... that's really awesome that Egypt has such places for the hearing impaired.

I had no idea things like that existed.

  • i just saw this on nickalden and i think this girl is amazing. My name is laura and my sister learned sign language. she taught me and told me what she is saying and it is amazing how this language works. My cousin is going to be a asl teacher since her bff is deaf. But anyway, good job and i think this is really cool!

i would really like to go

  • in dokki

  • Wow, this is cool!

  • can you tell me if sign language is an international language or are there dialectic differences??? thank you....my baby was born deaf and i am a little worried....

  • Most countries or regions have their own sign languages - for instance, ASL is used in the US and most of Canada, but BSL is the predominant manual language in the UK.

  • there is absolutly nothing to worry about. there is nothing wrong with your child and they can do anything that they want to do when they get older. in america, we have asl. very very easy to learn. most community colleges have asl classes. its a beautiful language.
