If this promo was done more recently in the kind of economy we have now & with people out of work, Is there anyone(and I mean ordinary people not pro wrestlers) who wouldn't say no to Triple H's offer--for real, not scripted?
@buster560 yea but what other fan would say they got mauled by Goldberg and survived. It would have been a painful, big balls move but fun. Thats a story you tell your kids.
What an AWESOME promo! This is how a great promo is cut; the way promos are cut these days is awful. This Goldberg-Triple H feud was actually quite amazing and deserves to be etched in the annals of WWE history along with all the memorable feuds.
I remember I went to house show in MSG and it was during this storyline. Me and a large group of people were thinking of jumping the railing and attacking Goldberg to see if Triple H would actually pay us or at least we'd get put on TV lol. I like Goldberg but I wanted money.
I'm surprised Alberto Del Rio & Ted Jr. haven't had 2 do this type of storyline as of yet...maybe Miz &/or Riley having a bounty out on Morrison so 2 take him out from being at WM27 when he wins the ROYAL RUMBLE 2011...
goldberg has a lot to learn as champion, but he was wcw champion while triple h needed chyna to help him win the ic title. *also note the boring chants. yess!!
@jblcn1042 Not to mention the "Harley Race-like high knee" (- J.R). That's before my time though. I found the video of Race putting out his bounty: youtube.com/watch?v=6pfkam4NOjY
Did anyone collect? How did it go? Did Flair go through a few pretenders like Goldberg? I enjoyed watching all those people come after Goldberg.
@jblcn1042 I found out who claimed the bounty, but do you know if there were others who came first? Did the angle spread over a few weeks, or was Flair taken out straight away?
@1979starscream "The last time you gonna see a bad guy like this again, let me tell you. Come on. Make way for the bad guy. There's a bad guy comin' through! Better get outta his way!" Well Tony sums up Triple H with that quote.
@Nindz81 Yeah, that's true. Though Triple H's $100,000 bounty on Goldberg was also influenced by the rivalry between two of his in-ring heroes (Harley Race put out a $25,000 bounty on Ric Flair back in the NWA.).
This was when Triple H was good, he annoyed me because he always won, but i was glad that Goldberg came to raw and became World Champion, because he was the only man that could beat Triple H on Raw at the time.
Moves like this are what solidified Triple H as "the Cerebral Assassin". He could have used his "stroke" in the WWE to get rid of Goldberg, but he decided to carry BG, until he outlived his usefulness (which didn't take long). I thought this vignette was funny, especially for its candor. Triple H. Its why he is ALWAYS, THAT DAMN GOOD!!
True, I just went back to the video of Harley taking a hit out on Flair and your right, it was 25,000 back than. Your also right that it is common for storylines to be recycled. This used to be a big practice during the monday night wars, but is hardly done today. Why haven't any of the good ones from the past been recycled lately? Your right, nWo, DX, they're all rip offs of the 4 Horsemen in one way or another, in ways they're different to make them current, but the original idea is there.
Actually Harley Race put out 25,000 and Vince did it to Austin in the attitude era. Its not uncommon to recycle storylines in wrestling. How many times have people copied the Four Horsemen.
