What I find is that most times, the places that have these forests and animals don't deserve them! A video has recently been uploaded on to youtube. It shows people from YEMEN torturing a young leopard.

You people don't deserve what you got and Arabs (in general) have no idea how to respect life. This video is a mockery of what is actually going on. Your government is a joke and much of your society is too.

Call me a liar but the only video I've seen from your country shows an atrocity

The end statement is not correct. more than 60% of Yemen is between farmed land and forests. 97% desert in Arabia is also incorrect unless you don't consider Egypt, Iraq, Moraco and Sham as part of Arabia. The correct statement is 97% of Saudi Arabia is deserts.

These ecosystems are lovely, but fragile. They need preserving. I think there is fog woodland in the Jiddat in Southern Oman, too. The rainfall is only 50mm/year so it lives by the fog. I'd love to see more vids of these areas, and of the neighbouring desert regions by local people:-))

Don't be so cruel to Kiyaz. Read about the history of Socotra brother. The old Yemeni kingdoms were the first to reach the island and Socotran people are much closer to Yemen culturaly even though they are close to Somalia physicaly.

Some of these areas are protected lands. There are some heavily wooded regions extending into South West Saudi Arabia in bordering Asir province which was formerly part of Yemen.

That's Al-Mahra during the Khareef season when the SE monsoon winds green the country. In neiboring Dhofar they have a festival in the town - Salaleh to celebrate Khareef.

The wahabi sect is not popular in Yemen. The very religious Yemenis are mostly Zaidis - a Shiaa sect and they participate in politics thru the Islah party. You're mistaken if you think we have a large Wahabi population ... that's concentrated in Saudi Arabia.

Bura is the closest its on the hodeida provence mountians, Hoff is on the main coast highway all the way toward the Omani border of Al Mahra, Socotra is in the middle of the Indian ocean so u have to fly through Hodebu (the island capital)airport, the others are found in Ibb, Otmah in Damar provence and wadi al Dhabab in the Taiz

yes for about 50km along the Arabian sea all the way to the Omani border... but like many areas in Yemen, its not a tourist destination

there are similar forrests on the west of Sa'ada-Sana'a-Taiz road (Hajja, Haraz, Raymah, Outama, Odaiyn, AlHugariya), you can find wild animals all kind of reptiles, but you have to take a landcruiser because those roads are not paved
