Yes, humans are animals. We dont have court for animals because they are not on the same intellectual plane. If ever an animal can reason and communicate on our level, we will have trials for them. And yes, if a cop was to shoot a fleeing man (as in running the opposite way) to death it is most certainly murder. Self defense is the only justification.

Next, murder is defined as killing an innocent person(at least in the society)--the rapist was not innocent, and by running was defying authority.

Then you claim the golden rule--which oddly hey, has it's source from Scripture--but you don't realize the consistency that unless the first rule comes(Love God)--then I can claim I enjoy being enslaved and then I have the right to enslave others. I would do unto others as I would like done unto me, even if no one would do it.

What you said about Matt 6:5 is incorrect. Matt 6:5 is referring to those who put on an insincere act in public for the express purpose of impressing men. God does not look at the outside of a man but at the inner heart, the inner motive. You googled that particular verse with a presupposition already in your mind and thus read your own interpretation into the verse. Read Matt 6:1-18 and you will clearly see what Jesus was actually teaching.

@jordan7787 I have studied and looked at the facts. There has never been any proof that any of the supernatural claims in the Bible are true or that Jesus even actually existed. If you used logic you use in your every day life you would see there is no reason to believe in any god, let alone the Christian god.

Nonetheless one of the best reasons which ought to compel 1 to take a closer look at what the Scriptures actually teach is the morality taught by Jesus. He taught men to turn from evil to good. Love God and love your neighbour are reflected in the moral law of the 10 commandments. It is self evident that if people actually obeyed this it would be better for all. Satan is all about serving self.

Also the so called morality you speak of says that a woman who is raped must marry her rapist and never says a bad thing about slaver, actually putting the rules on what you can do to slaves. @djb12030 You do with those verses exactly what you did with Matt 6:5 but you are free to do so, it is ok by me. In regards to prisons the truth is 90% of the prison population IS NOT Christian. They may profess Christianity but it is simply lip service and the situation is exactly the same in all the Churches. Authentic Christian's live holy lives and do not live a life of sin. Matt 7:22-23 speaks of MANY who will profess Jesus as Lord yet will be rejected because they live in sin.

@droptozro you must not know what an ad populum fallacy is. An ad populum fallacy would be that "well everyone believes it, so it must be true", you know, like Christianity! Me pointing out the overwhelming prison population that is Christian is not a fallacy it is a fact. There are differences between slavery throughout the years, but it is irrelevant as it is ALWAYS immoral no matter when it happened or who did it. Examples of God killing people: S&G, Lots wife, firstborn of Egypt, Nabal; etc.

@djb12030 NEXT. I actually get my moral standard from the same place you do, THE BRAIN. I feel empathy for my fellow man, just as it has been proven that other animals do. God never told a dog to try to save another dog from drowning, they feel empathy. I also feel this empathy, and if you had never read the Bible you would still have your same moral standard. If you were correct that YOUR God hands down the moral standard, it wouldn't explain why other cultures have the exact moral standards.

@droptozro the problem here is that you don't know the difference between obedience and morality. You do not know what is right and wrong, you are doing what you are told. By using your thought process if your God tells you to kill, you must kill. Sad part is, that God is in your head. Also OAP preacher's like Mr. Morrell tend to play the 'victim'. They provoke their audience with condescending words at times and when attacked verbally or even physically claim they are the victims. What does our Lord say? "A harsh word stirs up anger, a soft answer turns away wrath."

@beatit49, Well if Jesse Morrell is like John the Baptist, Jeremiah and Jesus, then I'm like Esther, Ruth, Mary and Jesus lol. He may be a nice guy, but being a nice guy doesn't mean anything. Mind you I prefer to refer to myself as 'myself' rather than somebody else's mold so let's not put people on a pedastel where they don't belong. One of the reasons why I am turned off by Mr. Morrell as a believer is because he rarely takes the time to listen to other people.

If he was too answer every question that was asked he would not have enough time time to preach the full counsel of God. He always has a part that when he takes questions. It takes a lot of guts to stand out there on the streets, day after day, week after week and in the rain and in the hot sun to preach the Gospel. Despite the mockery and the rudeness of people, he still loves them and presses on. If you would really listen to him, he has very powerful and convincing philosophic arguments to support his beliefs and in fact his method of ministry.

He is not out there for any purpose other than to share the TRUTH with people because he is concerned about their souls. He loves people. That is why he is out there. I respect the dude totally. He is not self-righteous or judgmental, as he has often been accused of being.
