@oaesan oh wow thats a deep point of view. And if the Muslim down the street or the Zoroastrian down the road is right then he and I will spend it together in their version of hell.
--your worldview does not recognize this fact that God's law is written on your heart, so you thus have no foundation. Are you claiming you're an animal? If so why are there no courts or trials for the murders in the animal kingdom?
What you need to recognize is that in your worldview--your "morality" has no more/less foundation than that of a rapist who thinks it's right to rape---the only difference is, the amount of people who back your view--ad populum fallacy. So WHY is it wrong?
@droptozro once again, nothing has ever been proven to be written anywhere in anyone's heart and you have no way to prove that. Until it is proved, your statement is just an assertment. Yes, humans are animals. We dont have court for animals because they are not on the same intellectual plane. If ever an animal can reason and communicate on our level, we will have trials for them. You make a claim that my morality has the same foundation as a rapist but then back that up with no evidence.
I'm well aware of what it is... You are still employing the fallacy in the recesses of your suppositions. You said slavery was immoral... Says who? You are also confusing murder with judgement... Are you against judgement? Do you call it justice when the cop shoots the rapist fleeing or do you call it murder?
@droptozro So even though I in no way said or implied it I still said it? Even though I in no way implied any sort of ad populum argument I somehow managed to make that argument. Methinks you have some explaining to do or else you are just making shit up. And yes, slavery is immoral, says my feelings I get when I think of someone owning me. And yes, if a cop was to shoot a fleeing man (as in running the opposite way) to death it is most certainly murder. Self defense is the only justification.
You said it earlier in claiming your morality was better because it was that of secular society--which means simply the more people agree with me, it must be immoral/moral. This is an advocating that fallacy. Then you actually are employing circular reasoning now, claiming slavery is immoral ... no matter what?---says who? Obviously you must have some belief it's an absolute claim, but an absolute claim cannot have it's source in YOU... you are not an authority to give it.
Next, murder is defined as killing an innocent person(at least in the society)--the rapist was not innocent, and by running was defying authority.
Then you claim the golden rule--which oddly hey, has it's source from Scripture--but you don't realize the consistency that unless the first rule comes(Love God)--then I can claim I enjoy being enslaved and then I have the right to enslave others. I would do unto others as I would like done unto me, even if no one would do it.
What you said about Matt 6:5 is incorrect. Matt 6:5 is referring to those who put on an insincere act in public for the express purpose of impressing men. God does not look at the outside of a man but at the inner heart, the inner motive. You googled that particular verse with a presupposition already in your mind and thus read your own interpretation into the verse. Read Matt 6:1-18 and you will clearly see what Jesus was actually teaching.
@Skinski7 insincerety is exactly why I brought it up, so I guess I did get right. There is no sincerety in belief of someone who yells at others for not believing when in fact he isn't a true believer, as NO CHRISTIAN is a true beleiver.
of course a few words on the internet don't prove anything my friend. It takes a debate and a discusion. He is right study and look into the facts use the logic God has given you.
@jordan7787 I have studied and looked at the facts. There has never been any proof that any of the supernatural claims in the Bible are true or that Jesus even actually existed. If you used logic you use in your every day life you would see there is no reason to believe in any god, let alone the Christian god.
@djb12030 There are actually many reasons but a 500 limit is not really conducive for real discussion. Nonetheless one of the best reasons which ought to compel 1 to take a closer look at what the Scriptures actually teach is the morality taught by Jesus. He taught men to turn from evil to good. Love God and love your neighbour are reflected in the moral law of the 10 commandments. It is self evident that if people actually obeyed this it would be better for all. Satan is all about serving self.
@Skinski7 if the moral law comes from god and Christians obey it, why is it that the prison population in America is 90% Christian. Also the so called morality you speak of says that a woman who is raped must marry her rapist and never says a bad thing about slaver, actually putting the rules on what you can do to slaves. My secular morality trumps your morality from "god" any day.
@djb12030 You do with those verses exactly what you did with Matt 6:5 but you are free to do so, it is ok by me. In regards to prisons the truth is 90% of the prison population IS NOT Christian. They may profess Christianity but it is simply lip service and the situation is exactly the same in all the Churches. Authentic Christian's live holy lives and do not live a life of sin. Matt 7:22-23 speaks of MANY who will profess Jesus as Lord yet will be rejected because they live in sin.
@Skinski7 sweet, glad I got you to confirm that for me. Just making sure that christians by definition perfect people. As once a "Christian" does something bad they are of course no longer a "Christian". It is a well known way Christians (and any religion) weasles out of taking responsibility for their nutjobs. So if an non-christian shoots up a bank its because he is an evil non-christian, meanwhile a lifelong Christian does the same and because he did it, HE ISN'T A CHRISTIAN. ****EYE ROLL****
I honestly came to this video to watch a good response and I'm glad you had a good talk with Jesse---but there was talk of logic in the beginning of your video, and I see nothing but logical fallacies and bad presuppositions through-out your comments. Someone else is already taking care of correcting you it seems like, but just thought I would let you know--Jesse is for real, his past story is for real. I had to work that day or I'd have been out there witnessing with him.
@droptozro..... Wait... So the guy who is on the side of a book that claims ultimate morality while condoning slavery and murder is in the position to tell others what logic is? If you see nothing but logical fallacies it may be because the "bad presupposition" we are talking about is Christianity.
Oh no---I see logical fallacies, one is the use of the prison population, and the other is your secular morality foundation. Both of these employ the ad populum fallacy to make standard or arguments and they are not consistent.
Would you mind telling me why slavery is wrong(where is the standard you get it from)? And then tell me if you know the difference between the slavery in the last 100 years and that of the Scriptures?
@droptozro you must not know what an ad populum fallacy is. An ad populum fallacy would be that "well everyone believes it, so it must be true", you know, like Christianity! Me pointing out the overwhelming prison population that is Christian is not a fallacy it is a fact. There are differences between slavery throughout the years, but it is irrelevant as it is ALWAYS immoral no matter when it happened or who did it. Examples of God killing people: S&G, Lots wife, firstborn of Egypt, Nabal; etc.
@djb12030 NEXT. I actually get my moral standard from the same place you do, THE BRAIN. I feel empathy for my fellow man, just as it has been proven that other animals do. God never told a dog to try to save another dog from drowning, they feel empathy. I also feel this empathy, and if you had never read the Bible you would still have your same moral standard. If you were correct that YOUR God hands down the moral standard, it wouldn't explain why other cultures have the exact moral standards.
If you get your morality from your brain, then your morality may be different than mine in your view. How are you not recognizing the consistency in your views? Why should you empathize? Why should you even be moral? You then might claim it keeps us alive as a society? So then why is that life is better than death? Do you not realize you have no foundation other than yourself? And how do you know your knowledge is true?
Though I do have God's law written on your heart--
@droptozro the problem here is that you don't know the difference between obedience and morality. You do not know what is right and wrong, you are doing what you are told. By using your thought process if your God tells you to kill, you must kill. Sad part is, that God is in your head. The difference between us is that I could be a little bit wrong and I can change my view. You are stuck with rules that aren't moral, they are just rules. You are doing what you are told, I am doing what is moral.
I believe jesse does preach the truth it's evident in the way he gets treated with all the mockery and people see him as an idiot just like Christ was seen as. Sin must be rebuked!!!
@jordan7787 wait, so what someone says is proven correct by how many people are against it? Well everyone I have ever told that if they give me $1000 that they will get into heaven and NO ONE has ever believed me. I will be expecting your check in the mail.
His Open Theism is simply off and some of the sins he lists on his boards are not sins. Oh but I know, I know, he's right and everyone else is wrong. Besides there are other methods of evangelizing besides OAP so tell me, why is it that OAP'S seem to think there way is the only way. And don't tell me this isn't so. I've heard them say it on video before.
Also OAP preacher's like Mr. Morrell tend to play the 'victim'. They provoke their audience with condescending words at times and when attacked verbally or even physically claim they are the victims. What does our Lord say? "A harsh word stirs up anger, a soft answer turns away wrath."
@beatit49, Well if Jesse Morrell is like John the Baptist, Jeremiah and Jesus, then I'm like Esther, Ruth, Mary and Jesus lol. He may be a nice guy, but being a nice guy doesn't mean anything. Mind you I prefer to refer to myself as 'myself' rather than somebody else's mold so let's not put people on a pedastel where they don't belong. One of the reasons why I am turned off by Mr. Morrell as a believer is because he rarely takes the time to listen to other people.
@mandeia1 The full counsel of God must be preached! so when people interupt him while he is preaching it is hard for him to answer so many questions thrown at him. If he was too answer every question that was asked he would not have enough time time to preach the full counsel of God. He always has a part that when he takes questions. God bless him if only every Christian was like this then people would then begin to realise how much God hates sin.

Jesse seems like a nice guy but he's completely ignorant. You would have just wasted your energy with that guy. I've seen him get owned plenty of times and he still does not consider himself wrong.
. I had to contact you because I am also a good friend of Jesse Morrell. Believe me please... he is not a knucklehead. He is actually very intelligent. I appreciate the fact that you have also have a brain and a sense of humor in your video that attacks him, but if you knew the dude (which honestly, you really don't) ... you would see that he is the real deal.
It takes a lot of guts to stand out there on the streets, day after day, week after week and in the rain and in the hot sun to preach the Gospel. Despite the mockery and the rudeness of people, he still loves them and presses on. If you would really listen to him, he has very powerful and convincing philosophic arguments to support his beliefs and in fact his method of ministry.
He is not out there for any purpose other than to share the TRUTH with people because he is concerned about their souls. He loves people. That is why he is out there. I respect the dude totally. He is not self-righteous or judgmental, as he has often been accused of being. He is just doing what the evangelists of the Bible did.... people like John the Baptist, the prophet Jeremiah & even what Jesus Christ himself did.
I have many various videos that deal with atheism that you might be interested in. And I am in the process now of uploading a 2 hour video from WKU. Your interactions with me are in the video from what I remember.
@OpenAirOutreach thanks Jesse. BTW I don't know how I came off in this video, but I do really love what you do. The experience that students get from hearing your point of view and having their views challenged is the purpose of a quality education. Keep up the good work!
