How much could you really do to a gt3? The aftermarket is huge for subaru, but porsche? Plus parts would be HUGELY expensive. Put 20 grand in an sti and you'll have a 600whp car that can put the power down. Add 25 for a really good gd and that's 45 grand. Do the math.
you are right, it would be more expensive. But you'd be surprised with the number of companies that make parts for porsche that you just dont hear about. There's plenty of heavily modified 930 - 997 Turbos, Carreras, GT3's etc on youtube. Build a good turbo kit and throw some good forged, low comp pistons in and you'd have close to 700whp. Thats all you'd need cause GT3's already rape when it comes to the corners, one of the best handling cars ever according to Car n Driver.
can you put a gt3 on a rally track? The STi is just a great car all around. To be honest with you Porsche is my fav automobile manufacturer but got to give credit where it's due, the STi is an amazing car.

So in the end reliability depends on alot of factors example; treatment, maintenance, replacement parts, etc. too many to actually be able to argue it under my knowledge, but if you had a budget of a hundred thousand $ starting from nothing and buying brand new off the show room floor, i bet that subaru would win in drift, rally, drag, grip/track, and gymkhana (AWD is a plus). How much could you really do to a gt3? The aftermarket is huge for subaru, but porsche? Plus parts would be HUGELY expensive. Put 20 grand in an sti and you'll have a 600whp car that can put the power down. Add 25 for a really good gd and that's 45 grand. Do the math.

you are right, it would be more expensive. But you'd be surprised with the number of companies that make parts for porsche that you just dont hear about. There's plenty of heavily modified 930 - 997 Turbos, Carreras, GT3's etc on youtube. Build a good turbo kit and throw some good forged, low comp pistons in and you'd have close to 700whp. Thats all you'd need cause GT3's already rape when it comes to the corners, one of the best handling cars ever according to Car n Driver.

@borladyno thing is, you subbie owners dont realize that none of your drivetrain components are capable of handling any extreme power levels, unlike american iron or porsche material. Wimpy little CV joints, transmissions that shatter gears....no good. Subaru's are great cars with great technology, but not to the levels of hp that many think they can handle. I'll take a Trailblazer SS with a bulletproof 14bolt rear and 4L70 tranny paired with the unbeatable LS2 anyday over any Jap setup.

Ok, Very true but your wallet also has to be big to buy a stock porsche. So in the end reliability depends on alot of factors example; treatment, maintenance, replacement parts, etc. too many to actually be able to argue it under my knowledge, but if you had a budget of a hundred thousand $ starting from nothing and buying brand new off the show room floor, i bet that subaru would win in drift, rally, drag, grip/track, and gymkhana (AWD is a plus). I think the porsche would win top speed still.
