My dad went to school with Fred. Oh the stories i've heard about that man. Amazing to see how one person could have such a wide influence on so many peoples love for barbershop. I also had the priviledge of knowing his son, Kevin, when he taught at South Carroll High School. That apple didn't fall far from the tree and the world is a better place because of it. Fred...Vick Kessle would be so proud of the legacy you've left!
My father was a member of the Chorus of the Chesapeake when they became champs in 1961. I was only 9 but very tuned in to Barbershopping and I still remember woodshedding with my dad and Freddy in a bar one night during the competition (in Philadelphia). He was very magnetic - like you knew him and he knew you forever, yet you just met. Didn't he direct a Sweet Adelines chorus too?
Does anyone know the name of this song?

My father's quartet, The Friends of Yesterday, was coached by the great Freddie King. He was a good friend of our family. Rest In Peace, my friend.

I wish somebody would post videos, or ANYTHING of Freddie King singing. I would especially love to hear the original rendition of Ebb Tide.
