these videos are cool and all but make sure when you are watching thme you pay attention to each time the man hesitates or makes a mistake...in the reality of this kind of combat 1 hesitation and you are dead or missing some vital part of your body

Taking a spiked mace to heavy armor isnt going to kill you but it will stun you,break bones and cause your metal armor to grind into your under garments and eventually your flesh the more you move around.

Thanks for the comments. That is me fighting with the mace and round shield, I think I was wearing chainmaile that day.

Somewhere on Youtube there is a video of a guy using a war hammer to strike a breastplate filled with ballistic jelly, simulating it's effect on organs thru the metal armour. Pretty cool stuff.

If I was really fighting in the period of plate maile, I would use a hammer, pick, or mace over a sword anytime!
