Why does the Cathedral need to sing Thobeslom....its Indian Orthodox...i assume the members prefer to sing in their native tongue....but what a surprise...you always want to white wash your "Indian Orthodox Churches" with veil of Syrian-ness to make yourself look legitimate.....leave Thobeslom for real Syrian Orthodox Prelates.

In Malankara Syriac language was brought by Persian Church or Persian people and Malankara had its liturgy on East Syriac! W.Syriac came in Liturgy after A.D.1751 through efforts of Mar Sakralla Bava only in Kochi(Indegenous Kingdom) Complete W.syriac liturgy was introduced later by H.H. Peter III who visited and stayed here in A.D.1875-1876!

Why do the Patriachs still want to be under St. Peter when God had sent St. Thomas for us. Catholics claim St. Peter too, thats another story. Ours is the most democratic church in the world with the largest parliament- 4500 members of the Malankara Association and we are proud of it. and my dear dear brother, there were no problems between st. peter and st. thomas. as this is the 128th patriarch is ruling now, you can roughly calculate how old is syrian patriarchate. this thomas issue happened in india because some people want more power and money resulted in formation of indian orthodox christians. be a good frien, god bless you. thanks

It is the Orthodox Syrian Church. Not the Syrian orthodox church. I am sure about it. Nice video, to whomever took it. This is not a coptic church. We are apart of the Oriental orthodox church which is a subdivision of the Eastern orthodox church. When they say throne, they mean that this is the person that leads. Just like the pope is on the throne of St. Peter, the catholicos is on the throne of St. Thomas.

The Indian Orthodox church(Orthodox Syrian church) was formed on 1912 by the establishment of the Catholicate of the East.They got seprated from Syrian Orthodox Church in the name of Throne of St.Thomas which you cant find in church history.

yes you are also right, but.....when we say apostolic throne, we mean that he started us off in our religion. your dates are completely correct, don't get me wrong, but what we believe is that the church was created and we were all one. Then came the separations from either foreigners or sectional conflicts amoung ourselves.

Apostolic throne has a broad meaning.Its not just who started.If you look into other churches in Malankara like MarThomas Church or Roman Catholic church or Malankara Catholic church,they dont refer the throne of st.thomas to their head in Malankara. The throne was introduced to get seprated from Syrian Orthodox church and to say that the Catholicos is equivalent to the Patriarch and thats how the problem started after 1964.

you are right.....you have described it correctly. But, apostolic throne means that we have descended down from what he started. It is a broad term and it could mean other churches as well, but on a basic leven it usually means that the church was started by an apostle.

...just a small correction, in the description the correct way to refer to the Indian Church under the Catholicos of the East is the 'Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church" while the 'Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church' or Jacobite Syrian Church refers to the church in India under the Patriarch

Indian Orthodox was established by Vattasseril Geevarghese Mar Dionysius. Geevarghese Malpan was sent to the Patriarch, and was consecrated as Mar Dionysius Metropolitan by Patriarch Abdulla on 31st of May 1908.Later he stood aganist the Patriarch and established Indian Orthodox Church in 1912 by the establishment of Catholicate.For that he has to depend on the deposed Patriarch of Antioch Ignatius Abdul Masih II.
