  • filmed where my other half lived as a child. good movie.

  • Petty is a better musician then Costner is an actor

  • I Know You, You're Famous.

I Was Once, Sorta, Kinda, Not Anymore

  • Petty is much better musician than actor. He needs to bow to no one.

  • Fot those complaining about Petty playing himself, actually we don't know that. He never gives a name. While the film was nowhere near as bad as all these people claim; tryin to sound all artsy, many parts could have been improved upon.

  • One way to waste a great talent on screen. They should have given him a guitar to welcome Costner. Well, at least Costner is "learning to fly" at the end of the clip. lol

  • 4:20 Minutes long... :P Tom Petty would approve. :D

  • This scene should have been cut. It really didn't work with the scene.

  • @guyaldridge goddam, im from austria and wrote your text before watching the video and i thougt its the real text :D

  • godddddd i cant understand how anyone can hate on the glorious Tom Petty

  • I remember watching this when I was 12, I thought it was so cool to see him in the movie. One of the best cameos of the 90's

  • He should just stick to singing.

  • At least he isn't living like a refugee :D

  • Why did this movie get such bad ratings, I thought it was great!

  • @Kanoee64 Essence either scares or attracts. . . Why are vampires so sexy?

  • @Kanoee64 i thought it was great too and water world

  • I wonder what the other members of the Heartbreakers became?

  • @johnhamilton08= They formed their own kingdoms. the bass player conquered Australia.

  • @johnhamilton08

    benmont became a shoemaker

    ron became a tailor

    mike became a vet

    stan became a farmer

    scott became a vagabond

    steve became a cow milker

    howie became a cook

  • @johnhamilton08 You see Ron is busy hanging out with Mel Gibson.

  • Where;s my boss?

  • What can Tom Petty not do?

  • @xxxImtheshitxx Give birth. ;)

  • Isn't this that movie where Jodie Foster gets raped on the pinball machine?

  • -spark pow bang- THIS THING IS WORKIN' PERFECT, MAN!

    "But how do I stop?"

"Stop worryin' about the little things."

Since when is Tom Petty a redneck? Epic, indeed.

  • @donbehatin Since he was born in Florida! ... ya know... the south ;) heehee

  • Hey @strtofdrms, don't come around here no more. kthxbye

  • In the Postman, Petty is known only for 'Mudcrutch'!!!

  • ho the fuck ,is this Tom Petty'

    don't answer

  • The saving grace was discovering that actress. And I don't mean Tom Petty.

  • Oh Christ. I didn't think the movie could get much sillier.

  • this was a great movie and tom petty said to him your the postman. great movie great actors time tests these movies. but it will go down as great. your famous. good movie. will test the times of time.

  • did tom petty really play his future self? in the postman world

  • Nevermind Kevin Costner as some postman! I want to see a film about Tom Petty as the Mayor of an apocalyptic town.

  • He's so humble! Man, I wanna see him at the Garden so bad!! It's great to know he'd survive the nuclear war :D

  • he already learned how to survive after doing the "You Got Lucky" video. Of course he'd survive!

  • I have been to that damn this was filmed on. It is north Metaline Falls WA. It is called Boundray Dam.

  • Ha! Petty's not a very good actor -- he's too real.

  • Shame that someone can't upload the full movie.

  • Tom Petty is the MAN! :D

  • quit worryin' about the little things... <3

  • Best part of the movie. Not saying much, I know.

  • It's good to be mayor, if just for a while

To be there in velvet, yeah, to give 'em a smile

It's good to get high, and never come down

It's good to be mayor of your own little town

Yeah, the world would swing if I were mayor

Can I help it if I still dream time to time

  • This was such a great movie. Thanks much for posting this part.

  • @guyaldridge Well the Postman "Won't Back Down"

  • El cartero del futuro, interesante pelicula.

  • Tom Petty "lives like a refugee"

  • TOM PETTY = GENIO

  • 0:16 I know you, your famaus, i was. sort off

    2:12 are you the postman

    yes,

i heard of you man, your famaus.

    Great movie.!

  • looool wtf)))

  • tom petty is the best one in here hes legend !!!

  • Seriously, I guess the stupid peeps of the 90s never did understand this epic film!

  • yeah ! : )

  • Dude What a pitty.

  • i say the same thing

  • I don't understand this "epic film" either. Please explain..

  • I guess Tom Petty does have to "live like a refugee"

  • LOL at Tom's delivery at 2:12! "Are you the Postman?" Now THAT'S acting!!!

  • I like to ride this damn thing for the hell of it ya know being a city offical has its perks. lol great script espically for Tom. lol

he did a good job in this role.

  • Yeah I liked that bit too, very libertarian and independent groove!

You can imagine him sticking 2 fingers up to the big government of the day too!

  • A better rock-star cameo in this scene would have been Ted Nugent. Because:

(1). The part where he says "no guns are allowed here" would have gotten some real laughs due to the irony.

(2). Ted would be one famous rock star who realistically COULD survive a holocaust due to his knowledge of guns and hunting and so forth.

Don't get me wrong, I like Tom Petty, but the Nuge would have been the perfect choice here.

  • Nugent! That's a great casting choice. Nugent would have loved it, in fact, it's weird he never got into acting.

  • Awesome it's Tom Petty !!!! the postman and the postmaster !!! General ****

  • i Luv thiZ Movie want a 2. part of dis =(..

  • is it just me, or are the book and movie both great , though almost completely different, but both great each in it's own way? Kevin Coster play sthe best a-hole turned reluctant good guy ever9the postman, robin hood, waterworld, ect...)

  • The Postman is one of my favorites, especially after I moved to the area where it was filmed - NE Washington. God's country!

  • at least tom petty survives WW3.

  • You guys are delusional. This is the most embarrassing moment from one of the worst movies ever. Fortunately, we agree that it's awesome, because it's so bad it crosses over into a realm of pure enjoyment.

I mean seriously - Tom Petty is PLAYING HIMSELF in a postapocalyptic drama!

  • worst pic?? LOL! this is easily one of the best sci-fi/apocalypse movies ever made. the story is brilliant and easily believable. with the collapse of production and industry, people really would have nothing to be apart of - reestablishing communication would obviously be one of the first priorities and it is genius to revolve the story around that. plus will patton is one of the coolest villains ever. all of his lines are top-notch.

  • i agree.

  • Warlords of the 21st Century is pretty good as well.

  • really who cares? tom petty was in it for 5 MINUTES out of a 3-hour movie. it's more of a funny reference for those who would remember him before the war. he doesn't even say who he is/was. it's an inside joke for a generation. at least he wasn't playing his music.

  • There is a long, long list of films worst than the Postman.

Its a pretty witty cameo, all things considered.

  • A very good movie. Sad that the critics put it down.

  • Most movie critics wouldn't know their rear-ends from a hole in the ground, let alone understand the difference between a good movie and a bad movie. I ignore them and everyone else would be best served by doing the same.

  • I wish someone would put up this entire movie. I haven't seen it in ages and I'd love to see it again. Thanks for this clip.

  • what someone should do is a montage of the best quotes from the general! PATTON HAD ROMMEL! GRANT HAD LEE! AND I GET YOU.

    LAW 7!

  • Drugs are bad mmmkay.

  • i love the part where he says "i know you...you were famous" great tribute to Tom Petty =)

  • Comment removed

  • Filmed at Boundary Dam, Pend Orielle County, Washington.

  • Lol @ the PC game "Fallout" references. This movie is full of them. "Being a city official has it's "Perks"". hahaha!

Not that most people would notice them.

  • fallout was released in september and the postman in december do you really think thats enough time for a film director or writer to work in references to an obscure game that just came out

  • he's a survivor

  • Everyone knows Tom Petty could survive nuclear war! Great movie!

  • lol.

  • you forgot keith richards and cockroaches.

  • THIS THINGS WORKIN' PERFECT, MAN!

  • haha hes actually not a bad actor

  • I love his character "Lucky" from "King of The Hill"

  • hahaha

  • Never seen this movie, but I have seen Tom Petty six times in concert. No matter what he's doing, he kicks ass...

  • Somewhere in Boston Cliff Claven quoting every single line to this movie.

  • Give that man a guitar... quick!

  • yeah terrible movie, i watched it for petty lol

  • LOL, my dad LOVES it...I watched it for Tom too, though. =P

  • THANKS FOR POSTING THE postman ...wow that was weird !

  • lol. i love Tom and his smile :)

  • This is a great movie :)

Tom being in this movie made it even more great!

  • I agreed it is a very underrated movie.

  • Postman-You, you're famous!

Tom Petty-I was once, sorta! Not anymore! You're looking to cross!

I knew Tom Petty was playing as himself in this movie!

  • TP will always be famous, even after the apocolypse...30+ years and they're still kicking ass!

  • Thanx for posting the video! Now it's one of my favroite movies

  • thanks soooooo... much!!! i was looking for this for a long time!!!

  • I want Tom Petty to be my mayor. This was my favorite part of the movie.

  • Hey you! This is Trefenwyd from LJ... xD I don't know if you already know that, but this channel is me and one of my friends! :D

  • Ya I know! LOLZ

  • @stunnedpaulpro No reason to get petty ... Oh that's right you're not Petty!

  • Kinda a 1990's version of him casting a role in the music video for "You Got Lucky" in the post apocolyptic world.

  • I love his humor!
