i was there yesterday stayed at friends house right opposite the pub. The pub is very real indead, the only filming ever done inside the pub was just inside the door/portch area to make it look like they were leaving the pub but infact they were leaving the set of a studio. The pub re-opened about 2 weeks ago, the landlord Dave is a very friendly guy & makes all feel very welcome. Yes the filming has stopped in Esholt & is now being filmed at purpose built replica village not far away.

@pimpmasterpop Actually 'epic FAIL' on your part. Esholt is a real village, the pub is real, and they DO serve food and drink. Emmerdale is no longer filmed here, it's filmed on a purpose built set you fool.

Emmerdale should be filmed back in the village. The new village looks nothing like Esholt and has spoilt the continuity of the series. How can a village suddenly change appearance an such a short time?

same way it did when it moved from Arncliffe to Esholt back in 1976 I suppose. I don't think it's that bad, storylines involving fires, subsidence and the 1993 plane crash have all helped mask the changes between the different versions of the village.

I travelled all the way from New Zealand to Esholt in 2000. Stayed in York, took a bus to Bradford and then another to the village. The owner of the Woolpack (Brian) was helpful and friendly as he must see many fans of Emmerdale Farm. The village is beautiful, just like it features in the old Emmerdale Farm episodes.

Seems to be in the middle, the branches give the appearance of a cloak, and the shadows on the shed in the distance look like a face - it was my missus that said it looked like a ghost, and if you look at it enough, it does indeed seem to!
