They read our body language and energy so therefore, this dog's owner was extremely upset and the dog understands the negative energy but honestly does not have any idea of why. @gclambert I've owned dogs since I was a baby, my parents bred rotts for our security in venezuela & I was in charge of training the dogs. I moved to the USA & never NOT had a dog. All my dogs actually felt guilty before I even knew what they did. If they did something, I would walk in & see them with that same look before scoping the house. They remember right/wrong, that's how you train them, praise for good, scold for bad. Just cause they can't talk doesn't mean they don't have feelings ;)

Sadly, she passed away from cancer a week to the day away from her 17th Valentine birthday. I got her when I was 9, and she passed away when I was 26. <3
Dogs in Particular loves to please their masters.We had a Chihuahua before who once tore a shoe to pieces & when I confronted him, i mistakenly yelled at him because of my anger! Dogs do not feel guilty like we think they do. They read our body language and energy so therefore, this dog's owner was extremely upset and the dog understands the negative energy but honestly does not have any idea of why. If he knocked down the tree (which may have been a complete accident), he was either having fun running around (possibly chasing a cat?) OR could have been having separation anxiety.

@gclambert I've owned dogs since I was a baby, my parents bred rotts for our security in venezuela & I was in charge of training the dogs. I moved to the USA & never NOT had a dog. All my dogs actually felt guilty before I even knew what they did. If they did something, I would walk in & see them with that same look before scoping the house. They remember right/wrong, that's how you train them, praise for good, scold for bad. Just cause they can't talk doesn't mean they don't have feelings ;)

@gclambert my puppy puts on a guilty face and gets all sad like that before ive even realized his done something thats when i start looking around and realize his chewed something so no they dont just read our body language.

@gamerchic94 Nope, they do not know they have done wrong. Dogs do not feel guilt. It is not in their range of emotions. He is simply showing submissiveness, and humans anthropomorphize the behavior into our terms.

@gamerchic94 What? If nothing has happened, why would he "act sad", then? I don't get what you're getting at... But even if something had happened, dogs simply cannot feel the same feelings as humans. Either, they are showing submissiveness, reacting to your own body language and energy, or they are mimicking your being/answering. Dogs are very fine tuned to human interaction.

hey , sometimes trees fall by themselves and dogs just get scared too, because when something fell in my house my dogs first instinct was 1- run like a bat out of hell, and 2- her ears would go down like , it wasn't me... and as everybody else thinks how can you stay mad at them.. you have to laugh, and forgive them

THIS FREAKS ME OUT!! This dog looks JUST LIKE my old dog. The only difference is my dog Button was only about 8 pounds. She had the same markings as this dog to a "T", and the same facial structure. Sadly, she passed away from cancer a week to the day away from her 17th Valentine birthday. I got her when I was 9, and she passed away when I was 26. <3

Dogs in Particular loves to please their masters.We had a Chihuahua before who once tore a shoe to pieces & when I confronted him, i mistakenly yelled at him because of my anger! His reaction was similar to this but he was completely depressed afterwards. I learned that you NEVER yell at your dog NO MATTER WHAT. I won't EVER forget that lesson as long as i live. From
then on, I just looked at him & he licks me as an apology whenever he does
something bad! You really cannot stay mad @ ur Dog!!
